We have the cricket and NFL threads now its time for the NBA one. My team is the Lakers and we are gonna win it all this year. We should have beat the Suns last year but this time Kobe is ready to take over the world.
52 points in a win over the Jazz yesterday.

Luck the Fakers.

I don't need to worry about the playoffs. I'm a Knicks fan and we have Isaiah the Franchise Wrecker turning Madison Square Garden into a crypt for basketball dreams.

HAHA

A Knicks fan is the Basketball equivalent of Newcastle. Dream On. Steve Francis is a great player though, always liked him.

Knicks are a bit like Preston North End--they were really good a long, long time ago.

RedCanuck you support the Raptors??
I tried to enjoy basketball when they came up here, can't do it.

Difficult to get excited about scoring when the two teams combine for 100 scores a game. Even the commentators screaming that each and every one is 'something special' gets old after a c-note of baskets.

Thats what makes it exciting though. Its the most fast paced and thus visually exciting sport in my opinion. I can appreciate cricket but you wold rather a hundred points than sit through some of that shit.

to tell you the truth, i couldn`t care less about basketball

i hate that fecking game and i allways thought that any sport that ends 103-101 has a lot more minutes than it needs to

I don't watch cricket either. Footie, NFL and Baseball are plenty for me to keep track of. I don't hate bball but I won't go out of my way to watch, same for hockey.

I think you meant 'could care less'.

And Yes you are a gay argentnian cowboy with extremely gay boots. All the Caftards know this.

For me sports I take great interest in: Footie,Cricket, Basketball, NFL, Tennis, Baseball, Moto GP, Golf, Aussie Rules and International Rugby union

Didn't Argentina beat the US recently in basketball?

Recently Greece beat the Us and Spain beat argentina in the World championship Semifinals. Spain then won the final without star man Pau Gasol.

I watched that game Kobe is just the best even with all the trouble with his knee over the past 2 years and I dont care what people say about Wade. Don't get the wrong idea Wade has been the best player in NBA in the last few seasons and still young but so is Kobe.

#8 or #24 as he is now known has finally realised if he keeps playing the way he has been playing since Shaq left then for all the MVP's or scoring titles he might win he will never win a championship again. This season he has now allowed Odom more shots and more time with the ball and Odom's stats have benefited considerably. Also he is finally appreciating the triangle offense instead of the Kobe offense. The great part is if they get into the playoffs with this team attitude then teams will realise that double or triple teaming Kobe isn't the deathblow to the Lakers it once was. This is our year and feck the Clippers and the Knicks(sorry FresnoBOB) and anybody else saying otherwise.

Who do you think is better on there day Kobe or Wade. With no shaq on either of there teams and Kobe with no knee injure.

In my opinion Kobe is the most talented player in the NBA. Period. Wade and LeBron are very talented no doubt and they are younger than Kobe but on his day Kobe is the best.

If you want to break it down:

Perimeter Shooting: Kobe. Wade, LeBron
3 pointers: Kobe, Wade, LeBron
Driving to the lane: LeBron, Kobe, Wade
Assists: Wade, Kobe, LeBron.

I could go on but I am kinda lazy. One issue people seem to have with Kobe is that he doesn't pass the ball. If you had teamates playing like the Lakers did the past 2 years then you wouldn't be as thrilled to pass the ball either. See game 7 of last years series against the Suns. Kobe gave his teamates a chance to step it up and they failed miserably.

I support the Celtics. Great team with great history; going through a nasty spell right now. Paul Pierce is one of the top ten players in the league, god knows how long he'll be with us, but we're in a re-building period right now with a lot of youngsters. It'll be a few more seasons before we can contend again. Danny Ainge has been a rather controversial GM; he's made some dodgy moves, but we'll see how things go and how some of these young players develop

having said that, we still could squeeze into the playoffs; the eastern conference is absolutely terrible so I won't rule it out. I won't be watching intently though.

As for the contenders this year, it looks like the Mavs, Spurs and Suns will be in it at the end as with last year. Surprise contender so far is the Jazz - they've been excellent. I feckin hate the Lakers and always will. Kobe is a real fecker, on and off the court. Unfortunately he's rather good, and the feckin Lakers are as well. He's still a ballhog but he is one of the best... doesn't mean he'll go to heaven. so far I would have to put LA in contention as well. The east is shite, the magic (basically dwight howard) have been excellent; who knows how long they'll keep it up. I'm sure the Pistons and Cavs will be in... Miami is lookin pretty dire without Shaq around. Things will change greatly over the months to come.

LeBron is real young, he can equal Kobe in years to come. James is more of a team player I think. It's refreshing to see new blood (James, Wade, Anthony, Howard, Stoudemire) coming into the league looking to play with a team and not rack up stats.

bye now

I agree with that when the heat won and all this stuff about Wade kinder got on my nerves. I know Wade is class and super talented but I thought ESPN and Foxsports(there websites) over went the mark after last year talking him up better then Kobe. People will always have something against Kobe with the trials a few years ago and it is unfair.

Ah Noy from the land of the infamous tea party. Patriots and Celtics eh?

Jazz(Boozer) have been impressive but the Lakers fecked them over last right.
Pierce is a good player and means as much to the Celts as KG does to the Wolves. In the east the only strong teams I see are Pistons, Nets, Bulls, Cavs, Heat and the Pacers. even out of those 6 the only real contenders are the nets, pistons and heat.
