I don't have the slightest clue about basketball, apart from the fact you have to chuck a ball through a hoop with the occasional bit of bouncing of said ball onto the floor.

That aside, this game is supposed to be the dogs bollocks and i'm probably going to buy it. Anyone played it?

I'm playing it now and yes it pissed all over other sports games in general never mind basketball ones.
The sliders in this game give you the choice of playing an ultra realistic match (with everything being 100% real time) or if you want an arcade game.It offers so many options in terms of gameplay, it's crazy. In one game they have enough to satisfy casual and hardcore basketball fans.

That's what I heard. The real time stuff just sounds brilliant. I heard it's a true simulation, and very difficult to play, but the realism is breathtaking.

I don't know much about basketball apart from a basic grasp of the rules and the fact that Space Jam is class, but i'm going to buy it regardless.

The thing is Jordan wasn't on past games when he was plauing how I have no idea why maybe some contract with NBA pa

Got this game. Friend recently lent me his copy. Going to play this. Anyone tried it as yet?

I always did have a soft spot for NBA games, despite not knowing anything about basketball. Traveling? What's that? Can't go back past the line? Why?

Can't remember which it was, but I played a lot of one in particular, where there was this three pointer challenge thing. I'm sure it wasn't exactly the most worked on feature in the game, but I did it.. a lot.

And I always liked being able to turn off some rules here and there, to make it a little bit more fun for someone like me who hasn't got a clue about the rules.

So... this good, then?

Last played NBA 2001 and loved despite barely knowing any rules :D

Last NBA/basketball game I played was NBA Jam, on SNES or Mega Drive, can't remember. Loved that game. Might give this one a try, sounds good.

Can't get into Basketball myself. Lack of tackling irks me.

With the disappointment of fifa and pes, I'm searching for another sports game to compete online. My last basketball game is 15 years ago though and I know feck all about the sport.
I love the competition and working towards being able to humiliate most opponents... so my obvious question is: how is this game online? Is it laggy (plays different to offline), does it disconnect regularly, are there cheats that ruin shit?

When a player retires, his image rights are no longer with the NBA. So they couldn't use Jordan in the past games, but now that he's in the Hall of Fame, his image rights were probably sold along with the rest of the Hall of Famers.

Jordan opted out of having the NBA control his image rights. Before he did this, the NBA could make Jordan tee shirts and he never saw any of the money. Once he retained his image rights, then he was the only one who could authorise use of his image.

Which is why he wasn't in many previous games even though pretty much all the other players were.

How would this game be for someone who doesn't know the rules? Will we get stopped every 5 seconds for doing something we don't understand that we aren't allowed to do?

Anyone able to answer this? I'm intruiged by critics saying it's the best sports game of the generation but I don't want to not be able to play it by not knowing all the rules and getting stopped constantly without knowing why.

Anyone playing the PS2 version? I was considering this and FIFA 11 and bought the latter in the end. Reckon i made the wrong choice because FIFA is cack.
