Manchester United winger Nani could be set for a move to Serie A next summer as Inter Milan, Juventus and AC Milan are all prepared to offer the premier league champions €30m to part with the 24 year old.

The Portuguese signed a four year deal last year and has appeared for the club 11 times this season so he is still very much in Alex Ferguson’s plans after enjoying the best season of his career last year.

The big fee could be enough to test Ferguson’s resolve though as Nani’s price tag will drop once he enters the final year of his contract.

United’s owners the Glazers’ policy is to not renegotiate player’s contracts until the final 12 months – meaning Nani could himself be tempted by the increased wages available were he to move to Italy.

There seem to be fairly regular rumours of interest in Nani from Italy.

Does anyone think the club would consider an offer of 30million for him, or that after 3 years in England that he might be interested in a new challenge?

For what its worth I think he'd do well there, although I doubt the club would be looking to sell.

I can't work out whether it's because the media hate Nani and / or us, or if there is something genuine there. He's one of our main players so I can't see the club voluntarily selling him unless a bigger club (basically Barca or Real) come in for him. Italian clubs are a sideways / backward step in contrast

A while ago he said that he wanted to stay and win trophies at this club. I think it was when he was contacted about the chance of a move to Barcelona a few summers ago. Now obviously in his first season he won the league and champions league double, but he was in and out of the team and not a star of it. Those comments came after that season. So I think if there was a time when he'd feel he's done everything he wanted to do in England it would be after winning the champions league as an established key player in the team. I dont think that even in that scenario, he'd go to Italy though. He'd go to Spain

Bogus, unsubstantiated links tend to eventually become self-fulfilling prophecies, when they're discussed enough.

These are pretty persistent rumours. I personally hope he stays as he is a match-winner for us and fantastic to watch, and the youngest of our star wingers. If he's happy here and wants to stay then keep him as long as possible, but if he eventually wants to move on as long as we get a large fee we should let him go.

Sky, its not this article in particular but the fact that rumours of interest from Italy seem to be fairly regular.

Its probably bullshit, just wondering what peoples thoughts are.

Remember Ryan Giggs being constantly linked to one Italian club or another, just comes with being at United

Cant see it happening. If we sell Berba, there'll be no-one to shout at him and he'll enjoy his football a lot more

Nothing story tbh. Quite a few clubs would pay 30mil for a player like Nani. Dont think he'd want to go to too many of them though, neither would we be willing to sell him.

Just the dozen or so examples of this being untrue in the last 18 months, how do these 'journalists' have jobs?

The only thing that I could see that could be annoying Nani is that despite being one of our best players and a consistent match winner, he's not a guaranteed starter. If you played as good as he did last season, and then didn't get picked for the Champions League final you'd be pretty pissed off, and then there's just the times when he's randomly benched for league games.

Hopefully it's a non-story, and I'm convinced it is because in interviews Nani always comes across as though he's genuinely happy at United, but if he did want to leave that's the only reason I could think of.

Nothing story. No quotes, no "insider knowledge", no nothing! He is getting game time here and is progessing nicely, much more settled now. Just needs that little bit more consistancy wise. He'll get a good deal from us when it comes to a new contract.

This was all set up to go through the summer just gone, I haven't managed to find out why it stalled but it is a case of when rather than if.

rodwell could sign as early as January.

Why would he want to play in Italy? The only step up from Man United, is Barcelona, or arguably Real.

He isn't irreplaceable.

He isn't but theres no doubt it would be step back. Yes we could get £30m for him for example but how many other £30m wingers are there that wont just be overpriced because we have money and because we are looking for a replacement?

Basically for his price bracket i think he is the best player we could have.

Sell him for £30m and replace his quality with who for that price? I guess we could buy another youngster and eventually sell him for a similar price. Then we could change our crest to that of a Cannon?

Rednews.co.uk has a response from Nani via Newspanel (some tv show i guess?)

"“I am happy with life at Manchester United. I am really happy at staying at Manchester United. I believe I am playing the best football of my career here in England and I have shown consistency in my football. I have two years left on my current deal, who knows what the future holds for me but I would be happy to extend my stay at Manchester United"

He was benched because his form hugely dropped. You could make an argument wondering if Rooney would lose his place like that if he was out of form, but the thing is we don't have anything near Rooney's abilities. We do have other quality wingers.

I'm aware of that, but hindsights a wonderful thing and we could say now that he should of played. If you're a player of Nani's calibre, even if your form hasn't been top notch, you could still make the difference in a one-off game like that, and it's certainly the kind of game he would of been expecting to play in giving his performances over the whole of the season.
