He is:

a) Our best dead-ball specialist (corners and free-kicks)

b) Our best long-range shot specialist.

c) Our most tricky winger.

All the above attributes help teams to win tight games. Hopefully he apologises to SAF, buries the hatchet with SAF and gets a run of a few games. We will all be suprised how well he can do.

He started out quite brightly if I recall correctly. But lost confidence after he was dropped for squad rotation purposes. It would be understating it to say that his ability to stay focussed is fragile, but that's just how some people are wired. I think he can do the job if given another chance. Lack of understanding with team-mates resulting in stray passes is something which more game time can rectify.
 
The new Kieran Richardson but even less likable.

a) Not exactly difficult considering our team is devoid of anyone able to simply put a ball into the box

b) I'm sure Gibson would have something to say about that

c) I peronally think Giggs and Obertan are more tricky players. Even if Nani did win this one, its what he does after hes taken his man on. Complete inability to pick out a simple pass or make the right decision quickly
 
If it weren't for injuries he would have played against Leeds. We really lacked his creative spark, and its not like he never tries. Something that couldn't be said for Welbeck and Obertan in that game... Give Giggs a mid season break and let Nani run the left wing for a bit.

He's our best specialist at long range shooting in that he can't really do anything else and shoots whenever he gets the slightest sight of goal.

I think our opening poster has been enjoying his ales this evening

It's a bit like Berbatov. You can see the talent, and he should be a really top class player. But for whatever reason, it's just not happening

Coming out in the press and speaking negatively is just stupid though, what a prick
 
Wouldn't mind seeing him get a run of games. I think the pressure of the odd games he does play has a negative influence on him and he's desperate to impress in the time he's given. He either becomes incredibly selfish or really cautious, trying not to make mistakes. Maybe if he can't handle that pressure he won't succeed here but if he plays a few games on the trot I think he'll relax and settle into some decent form.

Seriously. If you look at games like the one vs Birmingham, we totally dominated them but had no-one with the oh-shit factor to trouble them from distance. Personally, I believe that teams fear Nani when he plays on the left and cuts in to have a shot with his right-foot. When you instill fear, players get dragged out of position and this creates space for the rest to play. It's a bit early for ale by then way and I'm more a root beer kind of guy.

Say what you want but check his stats, he is pretty fecking productive.

He's had a terrible year although it started brightly.

He needs a run of games and that is tough to get at Manchester United. We rotate and pick the on form players. Nani also ran his mouth and I bet this cost him a game or 2.

I hope he comes back soon. He is one of few players we have that can score out of nothing. Only Rooney and Giggs really.
 
If he didn't have such a hateable face and if he didn't act like a pick on and off the field people on here would be for more patient with him.
 
Been along time since we have since Nani I hope so along with the return of Rio and hopefuly Hargreaves lets get it done boys wooooooo

It seems to have cost him a little more then 2 games

Isn't Wolfsburg away the last time he played?
 
I think he would benefit from having a 'you are gonna start the next 3-4 games no matter what' kind of thing to let him build some momentum and not feel he has to show the whole bag of tricks in 60minutes or 5 minutes or whatever

He'll more then likely play both games against city so I'd like to see him play against Burnley and Hull also.

Given our wastlefulness of chances to really close the gap with Chelsea in the last few months I'd say that's not going to happen.
 
Is he still injured?

I would love to see him back, because although he may be a bit shit at times, he can provide the creativity that we are devoid of these days. Even once or twice a game, he can provide a killer pass, cross, or shot, and be shit the rest of the game, but it's a lot more than what we are currently doing.
 
From all the Qatar pics and stuff looks like he is back in full training.

As for the title of this thread, certainly hope it is prophetic. I also think he started the season very well - it was after a good pre-season with a lot of games and then the injury and then the forced rotation seemed to derail him.

Him and Valencia on both wings could be very good for us. Valencia pretty much gives us consistency down the left, with some of the same shown to Nani now, perhaps it will be just what we need going forward.

Agreed, but he's hardly been a guilty party when he hasn't been taking part! If he feels he has the backing of the manager and doesn't need to win games on his own to keep his spot, then I think he'll settle down and not go for the 'hollywood' ball everytime he has it.

Sure, he should know that he doesn't need to but he's still relatively young and his experience so far has been good performance, dropped, bad performance, dropped for longer, so for all he can work out he needs to have a ronaldo-esque performance to remain in the team.

Obviously I'm not saying he should be frozen out, as he's shown in the past as much as he can be ineffective and infuriating he's capable of briliiance aswell. I don't think telling him he's undroppable for a few games is the right thing to do though (although clearly pointing out that he'll get more games if he puts in good performances is).

I think expressing some form of confidence in him and letting him know he'll have a run of games wouldn't hurt. From what we can tell, his next start will be his last for a couple of weeks again regardless of performance/output

4-4-2 at home should mean Rooney starts anyway. As for Valencia no reason why we should need him as a side with that amount of attacking talent should be enough to see off Burnley.

Possibly but if we can only beat Burnley with Valencia on the pitch then we are in more trouble than some think.

I'd rather start with our best side and sub players on when we are 3 or 4 up, that's the way I'd always prefer us to do it.

Did you see Obertan against Leeds ? He ain't all that, there's no way SAF will start Nani and Obertan against Burnley and bench Valencia.

I'd rather he simply just returns to the form of his first season. That's all we need from him right now.

I'm praying this is the case. I really like him as a player but he is so frustrating.
