Nadal

Deserves it. His double grandslam final win over Federer recently has basically been a virtual castration. That's how big a blow it has been to Federer and it's showing again in his performances recently.

If your and my prediction comes true (that Nadal's staying there for years to come), Federer is not the best ever. How can you be when there's one player who's slowly but surely now dominating you... at age 19-21 Nadal stood toe-to-toe against Federer, at 22 he's already capable of beating him consistently and not just on clay... and unlike lasts eason, he's also continuing his dominance and performances on hard courts now, which was previously a weakness the Federer fans could still hold onto. He's getting better and better.

Nadal's improving all the time and has been far more successful than Federer at the same age...

I think it'll be a short stay for Nadal, certainly not as long as Federer anyway. Talking about Federer, I reckon he has a few more grand slams to win before he retires.

This is going to be the final pages of the Wimbledon thread all over again.

Federer was lucky like Schumacher...when he reached the top there was virtually no decent one to compete with and made the most out of that.

As for Nadal, it takes lot of doing for a baseliner to retain the number position and consistency for longish periods. Lendl did that but he had a better serve, unlike Nadal or Agassi he wasnt clutching at straws to win every other point in his own serve.

Federer was the best ever, now Nadal is. :smirk:

Yeah, the only problem with Nadal is injuries.

and Djokivic is beating him now.

Make that thrashing him.

I probably rate Djokovic as the better hard court player, or at least at a very similar talent level as Nadal. I reckon it will be he or Federer who wins the US Open

I hope he gets knocked down ASAP. If not Federer putting him back in his place, then Djokovic to own him for the years to come. Never liked him.

Nice win for Djorkic. So Nadal will have to wait till Aug 18

Pretty dominant performance over Nadal by Djokovic on the hard court. Especially in the first set.

Tbf hardcourt is easily Nadal's worse surface

Big match tonight for Murray. He beat Djokovic last time out and I think he has the game to do it again.

Will be a great match. Anyone who think Henman was a better player then Murray is deluding themselves

Too bad Nadal got bounced in the Australian otherwise he'd be playing for the slam.

Federer's a baseliner and he has held it for quite a long time.

Federer is in the mould of Lendl and Borg. They dont serve and volley often but their first serve is powerful and accurate. For Nadal its not the case, he needs to work hard to hold on his serve and many a time it can have a draining effect in big points.

That's true. Nadal has improved his serve a fair bit though.

I am really looking forward to the next season already. Nadal will have to defend all the points what is always harder. Plus I really expect Federer to bounce back...;)

Yeah I hope Federer does, I wish he would have won that comeback at Wimbledon this year, it might have been the best match ever, but had Roger won it would have been the best ever hands down

Definitely.
