Was listening to music while unpacking, as I was setting up the cable box I closed the sliding glass over where the PS3 was and in only a minute or two I heard it beep and the noise! I nearly soiled myself.

Blinking red and green light and the fan was very, very loud. Fortunately it cooled itself off in a short time once I opened the glass (I removed it from it's space and held it out in the open, too).

Never doing that again!

My Slim is constantly cracking from the heat expanding the plastic casing. It was somewhat alarming when I first heard it.

If the slim components were in the fat case, you hardly ever hear the fan at all. Fat cases don't make noises either, the fan just goes bonkers in August. They are doing it again, there's a new revision to the slim coming into the channel, less power, less heat.

It needs to be well ventilated Dwayne, don't put it in your cupboard.

yeah, previously I had it out in the open sort of. since I moved it had to go in there.

I put the extra fan on and angle it so the main vent blows right out of the cupboard when in use. Hopefully I can change the set up soon, I couldn't believe how quickly it heated up like that.

it blew out some dust, too.
