.. so take it with a pinch of salt, but coming to Old Trafford in January, Robbie Fowler? I'd like to see him play a few games to make sure he's not injured, but I wouldn't say no if the price was right even if he is a Scouse git. What do you think?

It would nearly have to be a free transfer for the price to be right there.

Bet he got the idea from a wildly speculative piece in the Manchester Evening news then?

him and fergie are horse racing mates, so i wouldn't rule it out.

you'd have to wonder quite why leeds would be getting shut of him, though. . .

i've always thought fowler was a standstill type player. the ball comes to him, either he passes or he scores.. doesn't make much movement around the field.. but spetacular touches with the ball though - like jamie redknapp. on his good day he could probably partner ruud and still get 2 goals of his own.

worth a shot - at about 5m.

if leeds were to let him go for a knockdown price, you'd have to wonder why, wouldn't you?

fowler hasn't been match fit for about 3 years now, and shows no sign of changing. . .

Story was that Robbie wanted to come to OT when he left Anfield but either Liverpool wouldn’t let him or he decided against cos of the uproar it would cause. It would be a bit odd Venables letting him go but maybe he wants to bring some more of his old trusted stalwarts in – eg Sick Note, to play alongside Barmby? It’s only a rumour…

if SAF pursuits 4-4-1-1 then we will only need fowler to be fit to play once a week. we won't even play him more than 15 games for the rest of this season. I think he can produce 15 memorable games even at his fitness level.

it would be well worth the money IMO.

It would sure piss Nate off, but despite this, I still wouldn't want that scouser playing for us.

yeah, that story was knocking around on merseyside for ages. fowler then moved to leeds 'cos he wanted to "play for a club which had more of a chance of winning the title".

smart move, robbie.

the fans were already quite upset even when fowler left for leeds.. i have a friend in Thailand who's a big big fan of Fowler, he quitted supporting liverpool when they sold fowler and moved on to support leeds.. i believe there are many many fans like him around.. fowler was just loved by so many..

maybe MOM could provide some input into this story?

Some people even had to change their forum nickname!

but there were equally as many who felt that it was the right time for robbie to move on. he'd had a few great seasons when he was younger, but then followed it with a couple of years of idleness and flab. he was amazing when he was younger, among the best strikers i've ever seen play the game. but somewhere along the way he lost it, became unfit, and never really looked arsed.

that said, there'd be a shitload of upset scousers if he did sign for you lot.

Well thats just stupid, fans like that make me angry. LIverpool are better off without him, it would nearly be worth selling Beckham to Leeds just to get rid of those types.

i sort of saw it as true love to tell you the truth.. hahaha.. i mean.. fowler made him support liverpool.. fowler was everything to liverpool at one point.. until owen came along.. for owen to finally take over the captaincy was probably too much to bare..

they weren't true fans of the team to begin with anyway.. it was always a specific's person's performance that made them watch football.. we grew our fan base rather quickly because of our players too..

didn't owen take over the second-in-command captaincy role near the time fowler was sold? that's what i heard.. would like confirmation now though..

i know that jamie redknapp was always on the top of the captaincy list.. and that fowler was second until owen finally took the honour.. is this true?

nah, i don't think owen's ever captained us. owen stole fowler's thunder, but not his armband.

captaincy was redknapp - fowler - hyypia, it's now hyypia followed by carragher and gerrard, i think.

he went through thick and thin with fowler.. even when fowler wasn't performing he would insist it's other factors surrounding fowler..

i don't see many of us fans sticking by the players.. it's annoying when our own fans say our players aren't good enough and need to be replaced.. i think we should love our players like that.. not just any particular, but all of them.. it's ok to say we need more effort, but it's not ok when we say they're not good..

i for one never complained about players' committment to the club and always maintained that it was the formation that was undermining their performance..

we all have our ways of loving the club though..

Would you consider changing clubs if something you really didnt want happened. ie sellling Bex, appointing Bin Ladin as physio?

the reaction of many liverpool fans was insanely over the top, IMO.

players come and go, the club abides.

hahaha.. it's life.. shit happens.. but i'll always support the club no matter what..

if bex leave i'll wish him well, but i would definitely not give him a hostile reception on his return..

although what Big Pete did on Saturday made me and i believe a lot of fans hurt.. he did come out to apologize so it's pretty much OK now i think.

fowler was the heart and soul of liverpool.. he's one of the not many musketeers that stuck around with the team through thick and thin, even when they weren't winning anything..

a lot of fans were definitely hurt to see the likes of fowler and redknapped sold out of the club.. i think they still had faith in these players.. they were truly truly super stars..

hmm if they can sell Fowler and Redknapp - then are Giggs and Gary really sacred and beyond consideration?

you're over-stating the matter.

the club is the heart and soul of liverpool, the players plus the fans plus the management plus the board.

it was big of fowler to stick around banking his £50K per week while being unfit and idle. . .his social habits were against him ever making it as big as he could and should have been.

redknapp's an entirely different case, i won't hear a word said against jamie. top lad, good player and bloody unlucky with injuries. best of luck to him. lovely wife as well.

liverpool moved on, robbie fowler didn't move with it.

Kinell as for switching clubs for a player What a joke. Sounds like this guy ahd an imaginary friend too, called Robbie. Sad cnut.

As for Fowler........

I would have taken him last year as he's the type of player we've always cried out for (until RVN), a 6 yard box player. But now he's not fit and as MOM said he's a bit flabby and probably not arsed although the way we look at the moment he'd probably fit straight in. ;)

unsuitable player for the 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1 formation. Fowler scores goals if he gets chances, but we need to create chances first!

Nistlerooy and Solskjaer are better finishers than the 'current' Fowler. Forlan works harder than Fowler ever will. Leeds were mugs buying Fowler off of us with his long injury and apathy record.

So naturally, I now hope you sign him too. ;)

of the shit-stirring striker 'candidates' - Kluivert, Anelka, Zlatan and now Fowler - it's Fowler that must be the worst option. Why would Fergie buy him? It would be a sign of real desperation. Fowler's star has been in decline for far too long, he has a history of injury and besides his coke-snorting and LeSaux-baiting make him unfit to wear the jersey of any self-respecting club. ;)

Leeds just sold Keane to accomodate Fowler. They wouldnt sell him now, never mind to us.

We should have signed Robbie (Keane) when he was on his way out. Fowler no way.

i thought keane was sold so that smith could get more regular games.. and they also have michael bridges.. fowler wouldn't stand being on the bench IMO..

you have to admit that fowler does produce magical stuff when he can.. he's a natrual talent..

i agree other players at United work harder.. but for a guy who can play only 20-25 games a year, he may be a worth it buy at about 5m.. i think he's capable of producing good stuffs.. i've always believed that fowler was more influential to Liverpool than Owen ever will be.. people took him for a leader.. not just someone who could score goals..

i'm afraid you're wrong.

fowler was not a leader, he was entirely the opposite and wasn't really captain material. owen is more important to liverpool than fowler ever was, and great as fowler was way back when, he shone all the more and received all the more because our team was fecking diabolical.
