bloody hilarious stuff ...

Often the best transfer rumours travel by word of mouth, or in our case... by email. Here's a selection of the best rumours that ManUtd.com has received recently...

"This is not a rumour, this is fact. Man United will announce the signing of Rio on 12 July alongwith the sale of Juan Veron who will be heading to Lazio in part exchange for Claudio Lopez. My friend, Denis Irwin, has also told me that Sir Alex is hot on the heels of Irish fullback Steve Finnan and if a deal can be agreed with Fulham, Alex would love to have Finnan in the United squad asap. United are close to signing Roberto Carlos but Denis isn’t sure how the deal is going."

"I was in Las Vegas on holiday when I saw Wes Brown talking to Rio Ferdinand. They sat down at two sunbeds not far from were I was situated. Wes Brown asked Rio if he was coming to Old Trafford. Rio replied, "I would love to but I would like a few people there with me." Sir Alex has contacted David O'Leary and Robbie Fowler. He is putting David O'Leary in the position of General Manager and Robbie is being bought for £17million to play upfront with Ruud Van Nistelrooy."

"My mate who was working at a party held at JP McManus’s country mansion in Co Limerick on 7 July was amazed to see a few high profiled faces together at the party. Sir Alex Ferguson and Martin O’Neill were in attendance with JP as chief host. My mate overheard them discussing the future at OT late into the evening. He's not 100 per cent sure of the details but apparently Martin O’Neill is committed to taking on the reigns at OT as soon as Alex retires (which, according to what was said, will be sooner than the years left on Sir Alex’s contract.) This is not so surprising as JP and Alex will be chief shareholders in the club driven on by the ambition of Martin O’Neill!"

"My mate Paul who works for Nike UK has told me that he saw a document in the wastepaper basket that should have been shredded, detailing the fact that Nike have brokered a huge deal to coincide with the 12 July kit launch. Apparently, when the deal was originally signed with Nike last year, one of the terms was that Man United could get Nike to help sign one of the players under contract to Nike. The deal for Ronaldo was done before the World Cup for £34m and he will be the surprise model for the kit come Friday morning with Becks, where Fergie will also announce the swop deal for Thuram with Veron at the same time. You heard it from Nike first!"

"My auntie is one of the cleaners at OT. She overheard a conversation between representatives from Barca and Mr Kenyon. They were saying that Patrick Kluivert was relishing the chance to play alongside his Dutch mate Ruud whilst wearing number nine for United. Then the Spanish bloke mentioned that they would only swap Kluivert for Ole and not Veron. Kenyon then told the men from Barca that they were also signing Kevin Hofland (another Dutchman) as the Rio move has fallen through! Then Kenyon said that the man to replace Fergie will be Gus Hiddink, that's why he only signed a two-year contract at PSV."

"My mate overheard Quinton Fortune's neighbour telling someone that United were about to enter a bidding war for Man City’s tough guy fullback Richard Dunne. They are likely to face stiff competition from Barcelona, Bayern and probably Juventus!"

"I was on holiday in Madrid the other day. I overheard some business men talking about Roberto Carlos joining United for £10million and Silvestre. One with an English accent said that the Ronaldo and Ronaldinho deals were wrapped up, and that Rivaldo was next. He then showed the other men what seemed to be plane tickets, possibly to Barcelona. Seems like United want Veron, Yorke and Fortune out, and R, R, R & RC in."

"I am a friend of Eddie Irvine's brother and I was at the British Grand Prix on Sunday. At the party afterwards I met Ryan Giggs. Ryan told me that the majority of rumours are started by the players themselves and yet, following that very statement, he told me that one thing that I could be sure of was that Patrick Kluivert would be at OT by the start of pre-season, as he speaks fluent English. Ryan also said that he knew that Venables was taking the role at Leeds, and that Venables is an admirer of Seba. He feels that a swop deal with Rio could be on the cards."

"Any talk of Ruud Van Nistelrooy leaving is rubbish. He's just bought a house in Acton Bridge in Cheshire for a cool £1.5 million. I got his autograph and asked him about any transfer news. He mentioned Rio and Thuram and one of the famous R's from Brazil... Ronaldinho!"

"My uncle is a banker in Manchester and he said he received a visit from a top agent of an OT player. This agent was believed to be Juan Sebastian Veron's agent and he said the player wanted to move to Inter Milan for £28m. But he said that United are stalling on the transfer because they want Ronaldo and Inter would want Veron plus £5m but United aren't sure about his fitness. Also Rio and Nesta have signed and Silvestre will go to Madrid, in a swap deal with Carlos. Nakata of Parma has been offered anonymously to OT and United want to sign him for £11m on July 14. But this agent said nothing will be revealed until July 21 when United will call a huge press conference to announce they have signed six new players. The sixth player is rumoured to be Buffon of Juventus with Barthez going in the opposite direction. My advice is to watch this space, as all will be revealed on July 21."

"My uncle works for Middlesbrough FC and he told me that he was talking to Juninho about this summer’s World Cup. To cut a long story short, Juninho told him that we would have to pay £4 million to get Ronaldo on a year’s loan, we will sign Lucio for £15.8 million and Ronaldinho would only sign for £23 million if we could sell Veron, Fortune, Barthez, May and Phil Neville. Magnus Hedman is also set to come to OT for £4 million following an impressive World Cup."

"I have been living and working in Barcelona for the past six months. I am involved in the looking after of FC Barcelona's financial matters. In my time here I have befriended Mr Gaspart (Barca's president). Anyway, last Friday a delegation from Boca Juniors arrived to discuss the Roman Riquelme transfer. Also people from Lazio arrived to try and sort out the Mendieta deal. I was talking with Mr Gaspart on Friday afternoon and enquiring how things were going with the deals. It turns out that the Riquelme deal has been held up after United made a last minute offer for the Boca man! Mr Gaspart also told me he had been talking with the Lazio people about transfers in general. He informed me that they have agreed a deal for Nesta to move to Old Trafford with Veron going in the opposite direction!"

"I was in a pub in Newcastle when who should walk in but my old Sunday League mucker Zidane. After a couple of pints of the Brown Ale, I managed to get out of him that he had just signed for Man United for £12.50 and a chicken kebab. He also told me that he had only signed as Ferguson had promised to bring Mark Bright out of retirement to play with him as old Zizou has been a long time fan of the goalscoring machine."
