Last couple of nights from my home address it says my IP is banned. Any ideas why?

why don't you lot let qualified people answer the questions?

this is not the general forum.

you should drop an encryption through the backdoor

then try to over-ride the mainframe(using a d-14 data worm)

....failing that, ring PC World

if its AOL you have a virus on your PC and we cant help

If its not AOL, then most likely you have been a bad boy and have been caught

GazM's right, it's most likely the AOL IPs you are using. We do try not to ban AOL IPs because of this problem but occasionally in our rush to get rid of the latest pillock one slips through the net. I'm not about to go through the 200 or so banned IPs and ranges that are banned to see which ones are AOL as that involves individually searching each of them but have checked that none of your past IPs are on the banned list.

If it happens again please note down your IP address and PM it to myself or one of the other admin/mods so it can be removed from the list. As Gaz says, if you reboot the router your IP will change and you should be able to get back in. If you want someone to thank for this sort of trouble then blame the likes of Tommy, Kofi, Slabber, Welshred and all the other assorted cocktards who reregister on a regular basis and make policing the newbie forum about as much fun as a dose of clap.

Okay. Thanks.

I'll check it out over the weekend.

It happened to me before, and when I checked the banned IP range, the IP it was telling me was banned, wasn't on it, and neither was anything in the same range.

Can only think something was blocking the route before the caf, which obviously it's difficult to do anything about

I've never used AOL, and they're far from the only ISP to use temporary IP address ranges.

They are crap though. I say we just ban all AOL IPs

Whats the problem with AOL IPs?

Is it just that most of the idiots who get banned tend to be AOL subscribers so when the Admins ban them they ban a whole IP range and in turn ban a host of innocent caftards who happen to be in the same IP range?

Or is the consensus that their is a larger issue with AOL itself?

AOL assigns their IP addresses over a very large range and at random. It's easy to get a new IP address on AOL - disconnect/reconnect.

Your right, they do. So are we saying that the cause is other caftards have been banned and in turn other users in that address range get banned also?

If so the problem is not with AOL, its with the idiots who get banned and the fact that whole ranges get banned in turn. No?

That used to happen to me every few weeks. Turning the modem off and then on again does the trick.

Aside from problems on the Caf, Dynamic IPs can definitely be one of the better features of AOL.
