All this talk of clearing out the squad is stoopid and will never happen. Whats the point in selling World Class players to bring in a new team. Players who have worked so hard when at Manchester United and won us so much. I think that some of the players are under performing, but if we start selling players just coz they are under performing would be bad. How are players supposed to learn if they dont get a chance to put it right.
here for me is the way out for united:

Forlan for me should now have 5 games back to back. That is the only way you can tell if he will be a good striker.
Purchase another striker, someone who has played in the PL and has experience at all levels, after a lot of thinking about players who would be sold and would join us the only one I could think of is Vassel
Keane and butt have to be our midfield once there back. A bit of strength is what we are lacking, and we need to start kicking the shit out of players again, because at the moment no team respects us.
Blanc has to be dropped, not because he is crapm he hasnt really put a foot wrong, but he is far to slow. He puts so much pressure on the other defenders because of his lack of pace.
We need cover for Left back, left wing and right wing. We are very short iin this department and have been for the last 2 seasons. Fortune, P Neville will never be the players we need.
More importantly we have to remember that most of the players people are saying should be sold, or are crap, or whatever are the same people who won us the treble. They will come good again. At worst we will finish 3rd this season, and I still havent wrote us of for the league.

I dont know if anyone is interested in my views but hey....

Would be nice to hear what you have to say about my views. Flame me or not, the choice is yours ;)

At last someone talking a bit of sense.

Wholesale changes are going to create way more problems than they'll solve.

Well excuse me pal, but isn't that exactly what I said... ;)

But this post puts it much better.

Escude still seems to be joining, and could be moved forward to Jan. Van Der Vaart and Andy Van der Merde are quality plays for the flanks but could be a bit pricey. Vassel for me is the only player who fits the prfile I think we need(used to PL played at highest level, club willing to sell, and player willing to move)

What has happened to Djordic, he was supposed to be an up and coming player and went to the Owls. Is he still up and coming or is he not showing the class.

nice one No10. my only gripe would be Vassell. i'v seen what he can do in flashes but not consistently enough to convince me. he's young but so are a few other candidates like that garlic muncher with the wierd hair ;)

I agree with most of this No 10, especially the sentiment. We don't need to start offloading players just yet. If SAF wants to do it in the summer, fine. For this season if we get cover for left back and an extra striker I'd be well happy. IMO the extra striker doesn't necessarily have to be long term. Everybody thought SAF had gone off his rocker when he signed Teddy but he turned up trumps. I wouldn't rule di Cannio out even though the manager and the board are playing their cards close to their chests...

... and I agree with you about the league, it's ridiculous that some people are throwing the towel in so early. What were these people saying when the 90th minute clocked in the Nou Camp. Probably on their way out with George Best! I wasn't in Barcelona, I was working in Dublin so watched the game in a pub. I was stood next to a work colleague, a Red from Glasgow (he said!) who from fairly early in the second half was saying things like, "Well, you've got to admit, we've been beaten by a good side"; he was still saying this in the 90th minute when we were 1-0 down. And I was still saying "feck off, it's not over yet".

If we don't fight to the end, how can we expect the players to? Keep the faith!

The caf lives again. ;)

Never expected such nice nice words. I must admit I was alarmed with some of the posts, but you can always tell true reds by what they say. I just cant wait to see us hammer Newcastle at the weekend. Someone is due for it, and it would be nice to let them know what there in for in the second round of the Champions League.

Yes.

Charming isn't it. And from a teammate as well.

Mass hysteria breaks out on the caf. demanding the destruction of Manchester United, but it's me who's the drama queen for pointing out what a lot of people have said - that they don't want to bother with the Caf. anymore.

I think it's called shooting the messenger. ;)

That's what we've needed for a while, we need to give someone a right battering. It'll make us al feel better and give the lads some confidence. I'm sure if we'd gone for it second half against the Hammers it would have ended up 4-0 or something, lets hope the Geordie boys bring the best out of the Reds on Saturday. I'll be there! :D

I basically agree with you but believe that 1 player (who I won't name) should leave. I don't say this lightly because he was my favourite player but I do believe he will regain the passion with another club. Somebody at work (an Italian who talks a lot of sense) has been saying this for a couple of years now. I also believe that the rebuilding of a side should be an ongoing process and not something that suddenly happens after a run of poor performances. Unfortunately there are a couple of players who will never ever be dropped for poor performances for one reason or another. Anyway good post No10.

Hold on! "The Caf is Dying" isn't just a tad OTT?? Who are these old people you speak of? Do they matter?

Dans, I already said that I shouldn't have used that title.

But several people I talk to privately, regulars for a long time, have said they are fed up with it.

I'm interested to know who (I don't expect you to tell me btw) and why they don't post in an effort to dilute the crap then.

At the end of the day this kinda thing is always liable to happen isn't it? The caf has it's ups and downs according to the user's own definition.

I can guarantee that they did post, but in the end it gets repetitive, and it's like beating your head against a brick wall.

Most people actually have better things to do, so if the Caf. is no longer stimulating, or fun, or whatever they want it to be, they'll just drift away.

who are these people? sound like a bunch of moaning tossers, if they've got an opinion then they should share it, no point complaining, and doing nothing about it.

There's a point you miss, and that is squads don't develop by standing still. Fergie made this point by observing that Liverpool and Arsenal now have more pace and power than us. It may well be our squad no longer has all the attributes required to compete at the top level, quite apart from the form of individual players. In which case we may have to buy some players in, and ship some players out.

hmmm well.. U say ship some people out!!! NO my guess is that every player you think of would go to the best clubs in the world. Real Madrid would Love to get there hands on a few of our players. Yorke was shipped to blackburn, not a great club coz he was no longer upto it. Scholes, Giggs or any of the others would goto the best teams. You are swapping players for the same players basically for a lot more money.

Giggs is the best player in the world for his position and so is Beckham, so they cant be replaced.
Keane You cant buy that loyalty
Scholes, outstanding, lives and breeths for the club. You can name a lot of players good enough to match him but would they love the club as much
Veron, a great player going through a bad patch.
Every player you think we can get rid of there isnt many better to replace them with. As I have said stick with the squad and strengthen.
