From reading some of the posts clearly there are some very sharp minds who know their football and decent ones as well.

I asked a question (upon reflection a little provocative) BUT nothing that should upset anyone .

Within two posts I'm called a cnut and told to feck off , and heres' the threat bit

"go to a place called the bishops blaize and ask this question there, Im sure you'd get a big response anyway, and it'll be very educational for you aswell"

You think that is not a veiled threat?

What planet are you on mate .What the feck is that then ?

Then it's the 'anti London' vibe etc etc .

What is wrong with you ? Is this not a football site.

Most of the Man Utd sites are ( now I sadly realise )like this . If anything contrary is mentioned re Manutd it's abuse all down the line.

Do you all just sit here in your own glory slop or does anyone have anything remotely intelligent and coherent to say ?

Unfortunate, cos no doubt there's some great lads and lasses on here but maybe I've simply had the misfortune to bump into a couple of the real assholes of the board - every board has one or two that's for sure.

Inch is a laughable Man Utd gloryfan from Malaysia who changes his mind on the quality of his team by each performance, and has an amusing hatred for "Dippers"..


There are actually some decent fans on here but you have to look hard at times to find them..

Actually I played the game to a good level until a cruciate took me out many many years ago .

They could not treat injuries of that severity when I played.

So what do a I get for trying to speak with you another pile of vitriol?

The problem is that we get so many wind-up fans on here (fans of other clubs pretending to be United fans or only posting on here after we get a bad result - gloating) that it sometimes starts to get a little bit annoying. We even had a mass banning of opposition supporters around Christmas time because the number of wind-ups became greater than the number of real supporters. At the time you couldn't have a decent debate on anything as a wind-up would come along and destroy the thread.

So, some people are still a little delicate about fans of other clubs and react in a very hostile manner. Give it a week and you will be accepted if you are a genuine Arsenal fan that wants to talk about football and not gloat about your team or laugh at ours all of the time.

I agree that we are many times bitten and extremely shy when it comes to fans of other teams on this site.

Too many of them use their first post to basically say

'so, you've just had a bad result. You must agree it's because you have a shit team?'

They then act all offended when abuse comes back their way.

There are several examples of rival fans being accepted on here in general and help to give a broader opinion.

Davo (knows how to wind up people gradually, but is part of the furniture )

RA Softlad (has been accused of making sense from time to time.)

Dj_Sydney (or whatever it is has joined recently yet managed to banter without being a cnut)

Plus:
Marching
Fresno Bob
Arsenal.

There are more than this, but these spring to mind most immediately.

Best advice to rival fans posting for the first time. Do it after a good United result. Only speaking for myself, but I'm about ready to tell my own mother to piss off after a bad result.

Been looking for a decent Man Utd site for some time as I said before .

We have a beauty on AWIMB very fair and a great crack too and I do visit others . Have wanted to speak to Utd fans cos as it seems we have carved up the PL for the last 5/6 years, with you lot of course being a step in front for the last three.

Oh but for Dennis' penalty at Villa and things could have turned out very differently , sighhhhhh.

Still he missed and that was that and since then you have affirmed your domination.

BUT .

I think it maybe is coming to an end . we shall see.

Actually, Jo, this is a privately owned site that is apparently operated by a crazed non-resident Manchester United fan and is not, technically, a "manchester utd site," which would insinuate that this address was owned by a souless PLC hellbent on ripping the passion out of the hearts of loyal fans as well as the money out of their wallets. Actually, I think Jopub the Gooner has been a bit mistreated, he asked a legitimate question. Personally, I was against the signing of Veron from the beginning, and felt the midfield was the last thing that needed tinkering. I felt we needed defenders (look at the mess we are currently in at back) and a striker.

In all honesty, I thought Fergie had cracked when he coughed up all that dosh for Veron, and really thought he'd lost it when we changed are formation to accomodate RVN alone up front - that move likely cost us a fourth championship. (Running of course)

I see your point Weastey, but to be fair, you sometimes get the situation where a non-United fan DOES want to have a decent debate and in doing so, makes a critical point about United (which just so happens to be their opinion, to which theyre entitled) and the response they get (only from a FEW United fans on here, i do acknowledge) is abuse and what seems to be the inability to accept ANY opinion about United that is critical.

That's why, IMO, the likes of Ichk make a seemingly arrogant impression of themselves, and certain people will take this impression as an accurate one of ALL MUFC fans...which is of course a stupid generalisation.

Don't ask me what the solution is though, i've only managed to identify the problem.
