Just been catching up on Stranger Things (don’t spoil it) and obviously that Kate Bush track which was perfect for the era and vibe.

Now whilst I wasn’t around then it brought back memories of my Dad as he was a fan and I’d heard the song a few times growing up and it stuck.

Which songs give you that same feeling and why?

This song has been stuck in my head recently, used to hear it everywhere growing up, and now again for obvious reasons

Both these albums came out in early 2012 and I associate them with the 40 min walk to my then-girlfriend's house I made back and forth over that summer. Probably the most recent time I have a firm sense of nostalgia for.

These two to me are just absolute classics. Transporting me right back to my youth, going out partying with friends while drinking far too much crappy beer.

This reminds me of being young and feeling like the world was brimming with possibilities. Especially the, "Hey! It's me, I'm dynamite and I don't know why..." line.

Gets me in the feels every time.

1. This reminds me of mum and dads house. One of them loved the carpenters and this track especially drops me right back.

2. This is the first track I ever started playing on repeat. When I was young, my mum was in hospital for a few weeks / months and I remember it was her birthday while she was in there.

My dad rang radio derby who did a dedication for my mum and they rang her with a message of love from me and dad. We had taped this and the song straight afterwards was Heart of glass. First track I properly fell in love with.

3. Then I guess for my rowdy late teen and early 20’s I’d probably pick this. Not my favourite track ever but it instantly transports me to Ashby de La Zouch, surrounded by all my mates, drinking, smoking, dancing and on the pull. Awesome days.

4. And then, the track that started my love affair with Orbital. We have all got wide and varied music tastes at work and it is now a long running thing that if ever Belfast comes on 6 music or one of our playlists, I make everyone stand up to what has become our adopted anthem.

This song takes me back to being a kid, my mum played this single in the car all the time.

Though this is an objectively better song, which I didn't hear til years later

1983, I was 17 years old and had just passed my driving test, used to play this in my mark 2 Ford Escort 1.1 popular plus. Great times, no mobile phones or internet just out and about with mates. Loved New Order and had the 12`` singles of Thieves like Us, Ceremony,Confusion, Everythings gone green, Temptation and used to make cassettes to play in the car .

What a magical time it was, 15 years of playing and still gives me chill.

When i was a kid and we used to think the year 2000 was some kind of magical date when we would get martian colonies, flying cars and cities in the moon.

Had never heard a Kate Bush song in my life before this one.

For me it's probably Nirvana. I mean they are of one of my favourite bands, but there's an emotional connect there and always has been. From when I was a pretty depressed angsty till now, it's always got to me. Not sure if that's nostalgia per say.

A lot of the pop rock or whatever from the late 90s and early 00s. I still listen to it on occasion and am just transported back instantly, actually makes me feel quite sad because I was young then and had my whole life ahead of me so could have been anything

But anyway, that whole time period is nostalgic - bands like Blink, Sum 41, New Found Glory etc. Just make me a 12/13 year old again

I was talking about this with someone at work this week. I remember, in the early 90s, being unable to visualise the person I'd be in the year 2000 as it felt so far away. And now it's 2022...

Anything 80's... Always looked forward to Top of the Pops as a kid.
Always had the radio on at home...95.8 Capital FM! (Capital Gold for the football)

A friend had a Casio Keyboard which had this Madonna track on it.

Italia '90

I found this gem this morning. This guy is fire and his music certainly makes me nostalgic.

This transports me back to a simpler time. I specifically remember playing football on the school field with my mates in the summer with a portable cd player thing with this playing.

On one of these days, I remember us walking up to the train station to get the train into Manchester to go buy some poppers from the Corn Exchange, but all the trains were cancelled as the IRA bomb had gone off. In my mind I remember seeing a plume of smoke in the distance but i'm not sure if I'm making that up.

It also brings back memories of drinking in my mates back garden as we got ready to go to kiddy Ritzie. This was was like a proper nightclub back in the day. However, once a month they had a night for under 16's.. imagine doing that now?

Eeee you can't go back, as Brian Potter would say.

This was huge back in the day.

I remember vividly when Toxicity was released, just a week before 9/11 - brings back vivid memories of feeling lost, depressed and listening to this album on repeat while driving around LA.

This is from a later album, but I just love the live version in Rio.
