CDInsight.com - News: MTV’s ‘Hottest MC in the Game’ List Ranks Hip-Hop’s Top Performers

MTV’s Hottest MCs in the Game special aired over the weekend. The network revealed its list of the top ten hip-hop artists who are dominating the airwaves. Jay-Z and Kanye West finished in second and third place, respectively, but were bested by Eminem
. The roundtable of voters initially placed Jay-Z at No. 1, but eventually experienced a collective change of heart as a result of Eminem’s remarkably successful year, MTV reports.

At the Grammys, Eminem won Best Rap Album (Relapse) and Best Performance by a Duo or Group (“Crack a Bottle”). However, Relapse was deemed a let-down by critics and fans, largely due to how high the bar had been set in previous years by the Detroit-born hip-hop artist.

Em rebounded with memorable verses on B.o.B’s “Airplanes” and Drake’s “Forever.” Recovery was both a commercial and critical success. The wildly popular singles, “Not Afraid” and “Love the Way You Lie,” featuring Rihanna, reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

A cameo on HBO’s Entourage, performances at awards shows, and his Home and Home Tour with Jay-Z last month have also taken place in the past year.

Here is the full list of MTV’s Hottest MCs in the Game:

1. Eminem
2. Jay-Z
3. Kanye West
4. Drake
5. Rick Ross
6. Nicki Minaj
7. Lil Wayne
8. Waka Flocka Flame
9. B.o.B
10. Ludacris

......opinions please

It's MTV..what did you expect.

To even put Lil Wayne and Ludacris in a top 100 MC list is despicable, nevermind top 10.

Where's Mos Def, Lupe? Talib Kweli?

I'm surprised they havent sneaked Gucci Mane in there.
