.. so far i can only come up with two movies which had sequels better than the first one.. the God father and Shrek..
maybe to an extent Pirates of carribean... and the Matrix one was the biggest dissapointment!!.. whats your pick on the best and worst??

The Empire Strikes Back was superior to Star Wars a New Hope. As was The Two Towers to the Fellowship of the ring in The Lord Of the Rings Trilogy.

As for the bad;

There are to many shite sequels to pick one out specifically. But most horror sequels usually suck!

How could I forget lord of the rings...that one one just kept getting better and better... Never liked star wars!!

I thought X-men 2 was waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than the 1st X-men as well. That being said though, it wasn't really hard to top the 1st X-men.

i hate those sorry excuses for a horror movie..... there are some real weirdos who think its cool:wenger:

The first one was brilliant, ranks with some of the greatest films ever made for me, really went downhill after that though.

Die Hard 3 was better than the first one, same with Lethal Weapon 4.
Mission Impossible 2
Ghostbusters 2

Die Hard with a Venegance was on the same level as I imo

Lethal Weapon 1 or 2 are the best imo, 4 is decent

Mission Impossible I was far better than the sequel

Ghostbusters the original is far better than the sequel

Me neither, thats why the sequels are so awful. They concentrate on the gore rather than the story which i thought was good in the first. Also the insistane on having ridiculious plot twists was too great after the first, pressure to produce shocks does not help the film-making process it would seem.

Star Wars: A New Hope had the sequels The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jeid which are both far better than the A New Hope

Seconded.. Though the 3rd was utter shite.

Infernal Affairs 2 is just as good as Infernal Affairs.

Totally agree with you about X-Men, the part in two when Magneto breaks out of prison is great. That said the third one was an absolutely huge disappointment

Lord of the Rings. The first one was boring (IMO) and just setting the scene. The second one was amazing and the third even better.

A lot of people would say Alien.

Aliens is a good example, I think, of a sequel that might not be better than the original, but at least brings something new to the table...the first was suspenseful and gripping, the sequel was action-packed and exhilirating. Shows what can happen when the sequel is handled by someone who knows their stuff (James Cameron).

I'm a bit in two minds at the moment with 28 Weeks Later...comparisons have been made poiting out similarities between 28 Days being like Alien and 28 Weeks being like Aliens, in their structure and upping the action...hopefully I've explained that okay!:wenger:

star wars : revenge of the sith
matrix revolutions
lord of the rings : return of the king

Matrix Revolutions better than the Matrix? Are you kidding, or are you saying that it was better than the 2nd?

Lord of the Rings? Maybe it wouldn't count.

Saw?

My buddy's saying Kill Bill (which I thought was utter trash)

You thought Saw 2 was better than Saw but Kill Bill was trash?? Hmm. I agree if you are saying that Kill Bill part 2 wasnt as good as part 1 but Saw 2 was awful in comparison to Saw.
