are we facing some kind of creativity crisis?... i cant remeber a single movie that was genuinely orginal and good.. Even the sequles hammed(Sipderman dancing..will never forget that).. Can somebody list a few good movies released this years.. which were neither sequels nor sc fi no brainers..

Your standards must by very high. There hare been some very good films:
Of the remakes I thought Die Hard and James Bond were good but Bourne Ultimatium was brilliant. Best action thriller for a long time.
Of the more thoughtful as well as entertaining films there were: "Control" about the Joy Division; "The Lives of Others"; "Silent Night"; "Ratatouille"; "Apocalypto" and "Syndromes and a Century" are some of the memorable films of the year.
And there are others.

i am not sayin i dint enjoy any of them.... many on that list were good no doubt.... but none of them really stood out(altough among that bourne ultimatum is my choice).... which one do you reckon is the stand out movie of the year??

Personally liked the transformers film meself, would have to agree with bourne ultimatum and 300.
Blades of glory was a good laugh, American Gangster was fantastic and a shout out to planet terror, can't beat a bit of rodriguez.

This decade has to be the worst ever when you look at the kind of music and movies that are being made.
That documentary, 300 was class, but it was a remake. Blades of Glory was decent. Apart from that, got nothing.
Yeah, not that many good movies.

You've got to be kidding. I had the misfortune of catching that on a flight. Only Will Ferrell movie I've ever seen and I'll never watch another one.
That came out last year Crapp and also went to the Oscars
And all the Bourne movies can sod off
Lives of Others was indeed brilliant. I can't think of a decent film this year. (I haven;t seen No Country for Old Men.)

I liked Reign over Me as well.
Both movies could have been much better though.
Departed and Blood diamond were relased last year if i am not mistaken
The Man from Earth was great. Loved what they did with such a limited budget
I liked that but I can't say there was anything standout about it, well worth watching though.
Good film and a good concept, lost a bit of my patience with the Jesus thing but I suppose it is conceivable. Absolutely hated the ending of it though, probably the biggest disappointment in any film i've seen this year, truly woeful.
I watched Talladega Knights this year because of a recommendation from a trusted friend, let's just say I haven't spoken to him since then.

Seconded, though it's not actually out in Europe til January. Still, one of the best films i've ever seen. I love the Coen brothers

But I agree, it was not a good year for the mainstream. I really felt Ratatouille was dreadful - what a shit film, even for kids. No originality at all.
