United line up 'new Drogba': Moyes targets Fulham kid Dembele after stunning show in U21s clash

Manchester United are considering a swoop for Fulham striker Moussa Dembele.

The Frenchman - who shares a name with the former Cottagers midfielder now plying his trade with Tottenham - impressed during a recent Under 21 clash with United.

David Moyes' No 2 Steve Round, along with coaches Phil Neville and Nicky Butt, were impressed with the 17-year-old who scored in the 2-2 draw.

The match last month also saw Darren Fletcher put on a United shirt for the first time in 10 months after his battle with a serious bowel condition.

Dembele recently signed his first professional contract with the club meaning the Premier League champions would have to pay a fee.

He was signed from the Paris Saint-Germain academy last year for £284,000, the maximum payable under FIFA rules for international transfers involving academy players.

A France youth international, he is widely regarded as his country's best in his age group and has been compared with Didier Drogba.

Not related to this thread. But Daily Mail also said that we're looking at Patrick Roberts from Fulham's academy who was by far the best youngster I saw from the opposing team when I saw the U18 last season.

Have you seen Dembele play jb?

On a side note, my Spurs supporting friends don't rate the other Dembele and want him sold. Another RedCafe "Can't Believe We Didn't Sign That Guy" player proving why we didn't sign him.

He did play well in that game I thought.

Seen him a few times in the games against united and for France under age and was impressed with him particularly the game against Uniteds under 21s a few weeks where he gave Keane and Thorpe one of the hardest nights theyve had at that level and scored the first goal. Roberts looks like a future world beater the few times Ive seen him for Fulham and Englands under 16/17s. I heard we were interested in signing him last year but he had already signed scholarship terms with Fulham

Vaguely remember him playing against our U18s last season I think.

Btw...Kieran Bywater - is that the son of former West Ham goalkeeper Stephen Bywater ?

Because some clueless Spurs fans say so? He's had injury problems but played well other than that. Especially last season where their form tailed off when he was injured

Yeah he was cracking against us last year, as was Zach Clough of Bolton.

You're a little touchy tonight aren't you. Oh yes, my friends who are season ticket holders at Spurs and keen fans are clueless. Why don't you go and grab some meaningless stats to prove how well Dembele actually performs - that's your usual course of action.

Tbf wanting Dembele to be sold after just 1 season does sound a bit clueless

Video from last years under 18 final which he got a hat trick in. Goals at 0:40, 2:10 and 7:15

Why would I need to? Just look at how much worse they were when he was injured last season

He's the perfect signing for us. Just when it'll look like we've finally signed a good premier league CM, it'll turn out we've signed yet another striker

His linkup and releasing the ball to teammates has been surprisingly good. Probably the young player I've been most impressed with that half as Delefeou has been a bit wasteful
