I've no idea what point he's trying to make.

Very odd. Is he trying to protect himself from criticism?

I know the point he's trying to make. It's just a rather shite one given the way he expressed it.

Bizarre, to say the least. He's always been self-serving though so it's 'this club' and not him/us.

He knocked united out again! :wenger::lol:

Anyway: no time for drama. Being out of the CL sucks, but, well, we have another game saturday. I just hope that we'll play actual football instead of the shower of shit served tonight.

Care to enlighten us, too?

Is he trying to say that going out at the last 16 is not some unprecedented disaster for Manchester United? Because it's still a pretty fecking shite thing either way so there's not much point to saying that.

Shocking statement to be honest. No idea what he hoped to gain from it.

Remind's me of Moyes' "we need to aspire to be more like City" comment.

Absolute disgrace. After being tactically outwitted he tries to deflect blame.

The point is he himself has knocked United out twice before (under Fergie), it happens. It's the CL. It's tough. Doesn't excuse playing Fellaini + Rashford on the wrong wing, but it's not hard to see the point he's making.

He just means this has happened before and we've bounced back. Not the end of the world.

It’s got to the point where I’m not sure if he is trying to be somewhat cryptic in his statements, or if he just doesn’t know how to express himself properly in English.

Mourinho should be told to explain what he meant by this. It is absolutely unacceptable for the manager of Manchester United to talk about the club like that.

What he meant to say is obvious regarding how United getting knocked out isn't some never seen before occurrence. But I guess being the epitome of petty that he is, he couldn't help himself and had to include the Madrid and Porto bits.

I think he's trying to say that United have gone out before and life went on. Therefore United can recover from this.

Maybe.... I think he's tired and confused himself about what just happened.i don't know.

I’d worry about his dreadful and timid tactics which resulted in ‘this can happen’ statement. Has he acknowledged that bit?

He's full of crap. I posted in postmatch thread that Montela saw him through. And was Schuster sacked for stating that Madrid couldn't beat Barca?

Yeah what a great point. Getting knocked out to this Seville side is totally comparable to getting knocked out by the winners in 2005 and a real Madrid squad that won 3 of the next 4 CL titles after they got a competent manager

He just means this has happened before and we've bounced back. Not the end of the world.

And he could say it like that or similar to that or something but nope, he went on how he fecked us over when he was a oppo manager in those cases

I've no idea. His other match quotes are:

:wenger:

Those quotes are way worse than the main one people are discussing.

I'm not sure I'm happy with United's manager being okay with 4 shots on target over 2 legs.

I was thinking it actually reminds me of Moyes' "I wasn't worse off" comment.

I don't care. After Moyes, van gaal to this now. We've been in decline for the past 5 years. Shit performances, shit league finishes. The odd cup win isn't going to cut it. We need league wins and decent runs in the CL. But it's not going to happen so right now, I just don't give a damn

if he meant to make it like a joke on him with being self-critical, then fair play but he will probably get himself more into trouble. if he's trying to defend himself than this alone is a sacking offence. He singlehandedly elimitated us with his dinosaur and gutless tactics but probably still Moyes fault he brought Fellaini in the team so we have to rely on him. I'll hope for the former:-)

I think he's trying to say that he's been here before with the other teams, yet Manchester United still progressed in later years. He was there with Porto, then United won the CL a few years later so it's not the end of the world is what I think he is trying to say.

Maybe we need to reconsider the earlier reports about russian spies at United. Not serious.

Bizarre, to say the least. He's always been self-serving though so it's 'this club' and not him/us.

He doesn't use the term this club he said the club

That aside stupid thing for him to say but his point being that going out at this stage isn't something disastrous that no other manager before him has 'achieved' but yeah stupid thing to say, not what the fans want to hear especially his detractors

That's a good one. I am generally baffled that there are still people out there believing that suddenly the planets will align, and we will start playing "some actual football". Not under this manager.

It’s got to the point where I’m not sure if he is trying to be somewhat cryptic in his statements, or if he just doesn’t know how to express himself properly in English.

No way is that, someone with almost feck all of English would say "Shit happens" and that would still be better.

He just means this has happened before and we've bounced back. Not the end of the world.

That's fair enough. But we've only won the CL twice and went out to Jose's teams via two shit decisions.

He's really trying to downplay that utter shambles.

How about he acknowledges his dire approach to the 2 legs is what has cost us this tie, not anyone else, but him.
