The new season kicked off in style at the wkend with Jorge again showing he'll be the man to beat.

Marquez showing great pace and battling qualities to beat his team mate and championship contender Danny Pedrosa into 3rd and a spectacular return to form from Valentino Rossi to move up from 7th to take 2nd place, 6 seconds behind Lorenzo.

And Crutchlow looks like he'll be a force this year also.

Surprised there wasn't already a thread, anyone else watching?

I wanted to make a thread, but it doesn't seem like there are many on here who watch. If you search the site for old threads, there is not much to speak of.

Anyway, excellent race and really looking forward to this year. A great balance of riders gives me hope for the potential of this championship.

Yeah its looking like it could be a belter, potential for fireworks between the teammates from Honda & Yamaha too to spice things up even more.

I watch, but it's hard to be enthusiastic about a sport where its best competitor was probably sitting in his home about 100km's away from my location watching it on tv.

Casey's a great rider and in fairness to him the only one to truely tame the Ducati & turn it into a winning bike.

But to call him the best competitor is wide of the mark, 'best rider' is arguable although personally i think Valentino & Jorge are better than him, but the best competitor doesn't quit at 27 having won 2 titles.

Lol. Which team do you reckon will have the first incident? Right now, it's pretty obvious everyone is putting on their best happy face, but there seems to be more potential for fireworks at Repsol.

On that first lap, Rossi was gunning for Lorenzo to not let him get away and Marquez was over cautious with Pedrosa, sitting up on the straight a few times. You would think the rookie is more likely to upset the applecart, but i get the impression Rossi is desperate to win and showed his hand a bit.

How the heck does Crutchlow crash so much?

I've only been half watching this seasons, so not fully up with things. But at a guess, pushing to hard to keep up with the front couple of riders. He is on a slightly inferior bike, so would have to be pushing the limits a bit more to keep up with them. Not really surprising that he goes down more often as a result.
