Best team.. my arse~
Rio Ferdinand was playing upfront when he came on... :(

Obviously Fergie thinks he could do the job better than Forlan.

This tactical move of his just accentuates how badly stretched we are in the striking department..... :(

i couldnt understand that change, yeah rio for grandad maybe, forlan should have replaced keano.

Rio Ferdinand playing up front! What the hell was that about. If he was fit enough to be on the bench, he should have played from the start with Brown.

Or failing that, Brown and O'Shea could have played in the centre, with Phil Neville at LB.

And Giggs wasn't having a good game, so why couldn't Forlan have come on for him?

And I didn't even bother to watch the last 15 minutes because if I'd had to watch another long ball, or another high ball which their defenders lapped up, then my TV set would have been in danger.......

Me wonders too... i was thinking that he was changing Rio for Blanc, because Boro could only counterattack at the most, and speed was needed to quell that.

Couldn't have done too much for Diego's confidence to see a centre-back chosen ahead of him to play as a striker.

Look the game was already lost at 3-1 when Rio came on. He needs to get as many minutes as possible and by playing him up front there was just the chance that he'd get on the end of a long ball or a cross and create some havoc.

As Fergie said after the game it worked in the past with Bruce and Pally (remember Sheff Wed. in 93). It is obviously not a "normal" move and so it won't affect forlan at all.

It was a crap result - and maybe some of the blame belong with SAF for his initial choice of team - but there's no point in going on about an irrelevance like putting on Rio with a few minutes to go.

Not saying the substitution couldn't have worked. I saw the interview with Fergie on MUTV and he explained his reasoning. Fair enough. It's his call.

But confidence is so important for strikers, and as a striker, having a defender selected ahead of you to try to score a goal has got to make you wonder about a manager's faith in you...regardless of how you try to rationalise it in your head.

Rio came on in the 82nd/83rd minute and we were only down 2-1. I'm sure any striker in the world would have been disappointed if his manager had selected a defender ahead of him in that situation.

Rio as a striker instead of Forlan = a disgrace!

Yes, Ruud need aid, we all know the lone striker scheme made him very difficult. But a club such as Manchester United should have get more than one target man, rather than making a defender to play up front like West Ham. :(
