Stam Rubbishes Leeds United Rumours

Lazio defender Jaap Stam has scoffed at recent reports tipping him to fill the void left by Rio Ferdinand's blockbuster sale to Manchester United by insisting that he will never return to the Premier League.

"That is a part of my life that is definitely over," boomed the big Dutchman. "I will never return to the Premier League.

"My family are happy and settled in Rome and I want to finally show Lazio what I am capable of in the new season," he added in reference to the lengthy doping suspension he had to endure shortly after arriving at the Stadio Olimpico for £16m last December.

Stam is yet to comment on the latest speculation linking him to Inter Milan.

errr waiting for 11 million or so I believe.

It's still a considerable sum however. I cant believe that UEFA haven't been asked to get involved yet.

Could you imagine anyone else (esp Leeds or Chelsea) being so chilled about waiting for 11m - nice to have pocket rockets eh :D

You can imagine Kenyon saying "oooh dont worry, it'll do next year, we've got loads"

Why are we so hated again ?!? :)

No Raoul, but a big part of why Leeds were willing to let Rio go was becuase he was bought at the time we thought Woodgate may well go to prison. That now not being the case gives us a CB in some peoples opinion on a par with Rio with money to buy another CB if needed.

Woodgate is not unsettled....he just extended his contract. Just because one player called Rio leaves with 4 years left on his contract doesn't mean everyone else has to be tarred with the same brush.

Interestingly both Frazer Richardson (England U20 CB) and Shane Candsell-Sherriff have already had run outs on the Leeds tour....that's more they ever played in the first team under DOL.

Sherrif is a LB ain't he?

Surprised he wasn't used last season considering how poor Harte was at times, saying as he's supposed to be decent...

I'm afraid Lazio will prioritise paying wages in order to be allowed to start the season. We should stick our noses in now and get those 11m added to the outstanding debt they need to clear before starting.

Sorin will then be a red in no time. :D
