More from Sir Alex about Arsenal

Here's the rest of the Soccernet article where SAF concedes that Arsenal will win the League this year:

"Ferguson: Arsenal have been in fantastic form
(StuForster/Allsport)
With just matches games remaining and Arsenal holding a four-point lead, Ferguson cannot envisage either Manchester United or Liverpool stopping Arsene Wenger's side.

Ferguson had hoped Arsenal would have slipped up by now, but even he grudgingly admits they deserve credit for their recent incredible run.

The United manager can only stand back and admire the way Arsenal have strung together 10 consecutive league wins since the start of February to put themselves in pole position.

United could peg Arsenal back if they win their showdown at Old Trafford on May 8, but Ferguson knows that alone will not be enough to prevent them relieving his team of the Premiership trophy.

'You can't really see them slipping up because all the times you expected them to drop something, they've come up with the answer and you have to give them credit for that,' he said.

'They look in an unassailable position now. Our form since Christmas has been very good, but equally so Arsenal.

'They have been in fantastic form and you can't really see them losing now because they are in such a strong position.'"

This is a very bitter pill to swallow, but I guess we have to admit that, as always, Sir Alex is right.

I just hope we can drag ourselves up to Arsenal's standard next season.

Arsenal will slip up soon, vows Fergie
Friday 26th April 2002

Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted that the Premiership title race is not over even though in-form Arsenal need two wins from their last three games.

Arsenal, who lead second-placed Liverpool by four points going into the last three games, have won their last ten league games - and if they beat Bolton and Everton, they will win the title.

Ferguson's side face Arsenal on May 8 and the United coach believes the game could still be a title decider.

He said: "They keep saying they're going to win this, they're going to win that but they haven't won anything yet. Sometimes you can be too confident. I think there is an air of that over-confidence at Highbury - and that may well cost them.

"If that kind of thing happens, they may end up regretting all those things they have said. I think Arsenal will drop points, I really do.

"Maybe Arsenal are due a little blip with the few games they've not yet played in the league," he continued. "Robert Pires is out for the rest of the season and they've got a discipline problem at times, so you never know what might happen.

"It's only really Arsenal who haven't had a blip. They've kept their consistency quite well, whereas we had a terrible blip earlier on in the season, Liverpool had a few blips along the way, so have Chelsea and Newcastle, while Leeds haven't really gone on this season.

"We're hoping that Arsenal can draw a game and Liverpool can draw a game. Then in the last week of the season we've got Arsenal coming here, which we need to win to stand a chance."

He also made a lovely swipe back at Bosnich:
"Mark Bosnich once called me a throwback and he didn’t mean it as a compliment, but I have no problem with being called that" he says.

"I grew up believing that you should work hard, that you behave professionally and that you do a job well on all levels."

"Yes, managers such as myself and Bobby Robson could be called dinosaurs but I think it works – for example, the players always say that I must have spies everywhere because I always find out when something’s going on but, of course, I’m going to find out."

"What sort of a manager would I be, if I didn’t?"

So come on then which is the truth lads?

Meself I cannot see SAF throwing in the towel .

Christ if we drop two points at Bolton and you beat us you're champs.

Sure form ses we should'nt BUT lately we've been nervous and against WHam fortunate to get past the Kanoute goal that was'nt given.

Tomorrow will decide it actually . If you beat Ipswich , Bolton have nothing to play for on Monday night so we ought to get past that one .

If you don't then we won't need to beat Bolton anyway.

Personally I think we'll struggle if Bolton HAVE to get a result THenry and Bergkamp have slightly dipped in form and it's only the raised form of Vieira and Fred DaRedhair Lunberg's bursts into the box that have got us through the last two weeks .

Definitely NOT allover yet and SAF knows it

I don't think it's a good idea to tell Arsenal they might slip up. Wold have thought that would make them more determined.

I agree with your sentiments. Fergie being the master mind player should have just let Arsenal shoot themselves in the foot with their overconfidence .. there was no need to pump them up..
