I've got a pretty little mouth underneath all the
First time in the history of something or other that all top 8 seeds have made it to the quarter finals.

Should be a highly competitive and entertaining tournament from now on with all the worlds best competing and a certain Nadal back in action.

Stand out performance so far has been Murrays hammering of Ferrero. Murray hasn't looked this good and confident since he was last on the hard stuff.

As a side plot Murray will go to number 2 in the world if he wins this tournament.

I went Monday night, Safin shoulda beat Monfils(who is an arrogant cock btw)

New world number 2 Andy Murray beat Del Potro in the final 6-7, 7-6, 6-1 to win the Montreal Masters. Roll on the US Open, Murray is primed to win his first major (hopefully).

Probably not though :smirk:

Murray defeated Derek Potro by sheer force of will today having been almost out for the count, playing poor returns and catching the net with his shots. He turned it around and Del Porto had nothing left. The US Open is probably his best bet for a major. The draw will be important I feel.

He will have a Mr. Nadal in his bracket and he will be rested. It will be an interesting match up once again as this is Murrays strongest court by some distance(flushing even over oz) and flushing id say is nadals weakest. I think a hungry Nadal could beat him in straight sets. I reckon he will also have to play one of Tsonga or Roddick both who could beat him. Murray is a star but he isnt on that Fed or Nadal level yet, dont let the No 2 ranking in the world. If United didnt play 20 games out of the year and got third I'd still like them over hte second place side

Right, pure speculation, but I had a look at the current rankings, and he's just under 2000 points behind Federer. So, in the hypothetical situation that Murray wins the US, how badly does Federer have to do to let Murray sneak into the number 1 place?

Don't know, but it would be a travesty with two players like Federer and Nadal around he became no.1.

A travesty on Federer and Nadal's part simply because they're much more talented than him.

There's no travesty, Nadal and Federer make the choice to avoid the lesser tournaments with the intention of reducing the possibilities of injuries. Murray plays in more competitions putting himself more at risk in order to elevate his ranking because he needs to, everyone is taking calculated risks. The ranking system is not about who is better, the ranking system is about setting yourself up with the best possible path to the finals of major tournaments. If they want to effect the rankings more then they need to compete in more tournaments thus taking more risks

Cinncinati final now - Federer vs Djokovic.

Fed beat Murray convincingly yesterday in straight sets. Superb aggressive tennis from him.

Djokovic got the better of Nadal, who is getting back to full fitness, in the other semi.

Fed 3-0 up against Djokovic so far, carrying on the same form from the semi, just blasting Novak off the court.

Fatherhood is treating him well.

You're right, I suppose the memory of the first set was freshest in my mind. Murray did better in the second and got back into the match (like Djokovic yesterday) but it was still a convincing win and he did play superb aggressive tennis throughout.

Should be a good US Open with them both potentially meeting in the final again.
