Parcells(the traitor) and Gibbs meet again

So far Parcells'/cowboys have lost 2 decisions and the Redskins have just collected a fumble on the dallas 16 yard line...with 7 1/2 minutes left in the 1st quarter....no score YET!

Great win for Dallas.

Anytime Washington loses, it's a good day in the world.

Hail to the Deadskins, Hail to mis-e-ry
Hail to the Deadskins, Die you sick feckerrrssss

Great win, unless you consider the fact that it was gifted to them by the ref. I think Washington should have won that game by 4 points. There was no way it was defensive pass interference -- it was offensive pass interference. Crap call.

That said, it was great to see Gibbs and Parcells in a chess match again. Great game, even though I'm not happy with the result.

Washington screwed themselves not converting from the 1 yard line on 3 plays. Overall, Dallas clearly looked the better team. That last play of the game was as blatant an offensive pass interference as the first one that was called against the defensive player. Fortunately, the player was downed in bounds and time expired...as it should have been a flag on the receiver for pushing off. Dallas also gave Washington new life after stopping them on 4th down around the Dallas 40. But Wiley decides to slap Brunell's helmet and draws a personal foul, giving Washington 15 yards and a first down, which they later scored a TD to make it 14-10. If Wiley thinks smarter, Dallas takes over and probably drives downfield to score a FG or TD, and taking total control of the game.

Furthermore, those marginal calls or no calls have a way of evening themselves out over the course of the year. There will be a few calls that won't go Dallas' way and some that will go Washington's way as the season progresses (how soon we forget a couple fortunate spots given to Washington that resulted in first downs :smirk: ).

Bottom line - Dallas has Washington's number. 13 wins in the last 14 meetings surely proves something ain't right in the Washington camp.

had tix offered to me for this game but had to turn them down, also turned down tix for Wash/Green Bay on Oct 31st.
bummer. nice box seats too.

I agree that Dallas were lucky with the pass interference call but overall they deserved it. bad timeout management by the Skins. I don't like the Skins anyway so no worries for me.

It looked to me like a lousy game between two mediocre football teams. I think the gift call was not ruling that the Dallas punt returner recovered his fumble. The Eagles look like the only good team in that division.

He did. He was on the ground with possession when a Skins defender hit him again and the ball came loose. He was already down by contact and had regained possession of the ball. :wenger:

Even Madden, Michaels, and Fouts said the same thing.

The fortunate no call came the previous week on Owen's TD catch, which clearly wasn't a catch, let alone a TD. Philly did not impress me. Minnesota lost a TD on a holding call (ended up with 3 points) and committed two turnoves inside the Eagles 10. Turn that around and take away the obvious no catch by Owens, Minnesota wins by double digits. Stangely, we are not hearing anything about this play.

It's true, that's what they said. If the whistle had blown the play dead, then that's the correct call. But I never heard the whistle and I'm not sure that he was in possession when he got hit. It looked to me that he was still trying to get possession and didn't have the ball wrapped up. But that's just my opinion.

The fumble by Culpepper on the one-inch yard line was a huge play and I agree that Minny could have won (or at least covered). If Owens catch was reversed, maybe Philly would have scored anyway.

But I thought that was a game featuring two good teams vs last night, which had two teams heading in the right direction but with a lot of work to do.

I'm a diehard Cowboys fan (grew up within 30 minutes of Irving) and even I admit the Boys are not a serious contender. Vinny gives them a better threat at passing downfield than Carter ever did, but they lose the legs. Still, the QB's job is to throw the ball not run. The Boys running game is crap. Losing Jones hurts but I think Lee will turn out a decent back if given the chance. The defense is top notch, but they are missing a CB opposite Newman (should have signed Bobby Taylor or Antoine Winfield) and a premier pass rushing DE. These two areas must be addressed next offseason in free agency and/or the amatuer draft.

Parcells job last season only further adds to his legacy and mystique. He's the best coach of the modern era and arguably amongst the 5 greatest in league history (Lombardi, Shula, Landry, Walsh are my top 4). If Parcells delivers a SB win to Dallas, he's the best of all-time. I'm fairly confident he would have taken the Jets to the SB had he stuck around a 4th or 5th year. The injury to Vinny in 1999 killed them off barely into the season, yet the stilly finished 8-8 with Lucas and Foley as the top QBs,

The Skins are shit and always will be. End of. ;)

Vinny's injury absolutely killed the Jets that year. They got off to a horrible start but by the end of the year were a respectable team. They were even stuck with Mira at QB for awile. Parcells is a great coach, but always tires of the job eventually and leaves the team with all sorts of cap problems. He could get Dallas to a SB, but, as much as I like Vinny personally, it will be tough with him at QB.

Being a Jet fan, I have nothing against the Cowboys or Redskins. I think that the Cowboys are much more solid than the Redskins right now. I don't like Brunell at all and wonder why they don't play Ramsey.

Because he's shite? Look at last week's performance. They are as bad at QB as Dallas are at RB. I know Parcells loves to run the clock down but I cringe every time I see George can another half a yard.

Ramsey sucks. Simple as that.

Then again, as a Giants fan, I don't mind seeing the Redskins suffer.

I just wish the Eagles would crash and burn. Then again, it doesn't appear as though that is going to happen anytime soon...

 True that Ramsey looked terrible, but there is more of an upside with him. I think Parcells will figure out the RB situation. Maybe they will have to run Richie Anderson more until the rookie gets back.

It was a good game...worth seeing the ending. Skins coming back within 3 points...sucks the reciever didn't get outta bouns with the final catch.

I'm not seeing much happening with my Giants....as long as they beat the cowboys this year...I'll be a happy giants fan.

Beating the Eagles would be nice...but I think that's asking too much.

Bob a Giants Fan. Well, we do have something in common!

To be honest, I do think our defense is getting its act togther. I only hope our offense (our traditional weakpoint) can kick in as well. We definitely need Shockey to get with the program.

Actually, the Giants have been looking surprisingly good so far, but playing the Skins and Browns can do that. We'll know more after they play the Packers this week. The players are starting to buy into Coughlin's system and should play a decent game. Warner has been pretty good so far.

They'll choke again come January, though it might be in the SB this year if they actually show up in the conference championship game.

I don't like Brunell either. But right now he's better than Ramsey, who may be good sometime but just isn't ready yet to lead a Gibbs offense. That was pretty apparent against the Giants last week when he threw three interceptions.

The Redskins could have had several different, veteran quarterbacks this year. Garcia was available, as was Warner, and Testeverde. I'm not sure what Gibbs saw to make him go for Brunell.

I agree that Washington should have punched that ball in when they had first down on the one yard line. I also agree that bad calls do tend to even out, except when they go against United. ;)

Being objective -- and I do admit to being a life-long Redskins fan -- Dallas did outplay them. I guess we'll see what happens next time.

And trade a 3rd rd pick and give Brunell $50m and 6, or 8 years, when he'll play 2, maybe 3 max. Gibbs will find NFL life tough when the cap crunches his player signing flexibity in 2006. Washington better win soon for his sake.

Brunell is a decent QB and fits into most systems. He's accurate, mobile, and a good arm. I wanted Dallas to trade for him in summer 2003 when it was apparent he was on his way out of Jacksonville. Had he been with the Boys last season, I see them winning 12 games versus 10. And having the tie-breaker against Philly, they would have taken the division and homefield. And who knows how the playoffs would have fared from then on. Could very well have been Dallas vs New England in the SB...and what a headline that would have made: MASTER vs STUDENT (Parcells vs Belichik)
