Mohamed Elneny

There's a couple of the usual video highlights up on the YouTube looks like he loves getting forward

It looks like he's got an absolute rocket of a shot and doesn't mind a long accurate pass.

Does anyone watch the Swiss League or Basel in particular that can comment?

Wenger has confirmed the signing after today's match I'm hearing. Could start against Stoke. Would be a welcome relief from Flamini. I mean maybe, I still don't know shit about him.
Same here - don't know anything. Hopefully he hits the ground running. God knows we're weak with Flamini in the XI.

Apparently he's got an insane engine.

From the youtube video's I've watched he's got a very powerful long-shot.

They are Swiss, right?
I think his point is that being the top club in Switzerland is pretty useless in the wider football world. A bit like how Celtic being the 'Barcelona of Scotland' didn't stop them losing a key defender to Southampton.

Bayern are Bayern. They aren't just big in their own country. Basel are.

That makes sense.

But Basel surely didn't have to sell him for that kind of money. As far as I know they're the Bayern Munich of Switzerland.

Bit harsh. I think they're clearly the Total Network Solutions F.C of Switzerland.

As far as I know the're the dominant team in Switzerland (won 7 out of the last 10 league titles). And they don't need that kind of money. 5 Mil. is a better change for them. So why would they sell someone for such a low sum. You have also to consider that the buyer is a PL club who could easily throw 10 Mil. at them?

Considering their record signing was I think less than 5m euros, maybe they're quite happy to get £7m? They'll probably find a replacement for half that and won't have an unhappy player on their hands...
