MUFC Champions 2006/2007: Where will the goals com
Right, having defeated Niall just a few days ago, I am rightfully your leader now, survival of the fittest and all that.

But aside from that, is it possible to do an IP check on Flash and Yatta?

Im none too convinced this Yatta bloke is for real. Sincher also has quite a similar style to Slabber, I notice!.

Forget about Sincher though, he's alright, more importantly im sure Yatta is a wind up, digging up threads that are half a year old just to have a pop at Flash/cr7, it's fishy.

Yours,
Detective Van.

Also, another idea to perhaps save the general is by ushering the more intelligent people in to there. You know, those who like to talk about Current Events and such.

There are plenty of posters who come to this site and just post in the Current Events forum. Why not collapse the Current Events forum into the General forum, therefor making the General a bit busier, and whilst the nutcases stop off to discuss WMD's, they can also stumble across and get involved in a thread on farting, for example.

Another advantage of dumping the interllectuals in the General is that any word they use over three syllables long is going to scare off the likes of Yatta and cr7.

Hows that? I swear I do all the leg work around here.

I'm NOT Slabber

Maybe I'm Yatta. This was a pretty meaningless post, and I'm now very unhappy. When will you stop? :(

(PS are you really a Detective Van? Don't they use those to find people who've not paid their TV licence?)

I'd rather the Current Events forum not be merged with the General.

I'd hate for the venom and unpleasantness that we all spit at each other to get out of its box and permeate the quality threads on farting and Dutchness.

I too am beginning to share your suspicions about Yatta. No one could be that OTT, and bringing up the threads from ages ago was perhaps a bridge too far. Doesn't have to be Flashie, though. It could be any of us. It could even be you, Mr. Poirot, doing a clever double-bluff. ;)

No I believe this Yadda is for real...I have a sneaking suspicion though that the Yadda of the end of the day who turned so suddenly into an aggressive piss taker was probably his older brother or something who saw Yadda crying and took matters into his own hands to avenge his little Yadda sibling.

We wouldn't want the type of abuse and bile that gets spat around in the Current Events forum to be mixed with the random abuse and insults of the General. Feck knows where it ould stop.

Plus we seperated the two a while ago because they weren't a good fit.

The overunning of the forum by toungsters and loons is another issue. The Newbie forum keeps the problem to manageble levels but it does seem that the more mature posters have deserted us over the years and/or been swamped by an huge influx of kids with a Ronaldo duvet cover.

Not sure what the solution is TBH or indeed of there is one.

I have a question for the long termers.

Is the General actually designed to be full of madness, like it is? Or is it designed to be a place for people to just hang out?

I'm just wondering if the sort of things a lot of us get up to in there are part of what some people are characterising as "the problem".

I enjoy taking the piss and having a good time, but I'd hate to be part of "the problem".

The idiocy has always been a part of the forum and the General is just a good place to confine it to prevent it swamping sensible debate in other forums. The current events theoretically could sit within the general but unfortunately decent debate on more serious issues would disappear as the posting is far less frequent than the farting threads and it would simply sink in the quagmire.

As for the teenage Ronaldo fans, they are a pain in the arse but if the more mature posters are willing to be pushed out of their own forum by these know nowts then there is little the Mods can do. Stand up for yourselves and show them how little they know, slag off the sell everyone numpties and doom and gloom merchants and show them what being a supporter means to you.

They may be sad and embarassing now and unfortunately fulfill far too many of the ABU stereotypes of United fans, but they are likely to be the future supporters of our club. It's not like some of the fans Beckham or Ruud brought in haven't settled into reasonable posters and I'm sure Gazza, who is one of the best posters on here these days, won't mind me saying that he was a bit of a prat in his early days on the forum. Hell I'm sure some of the older posters on here were drawn in by the likes of Whiteside, Robson, Best etc, apparently edthered cried himself to sleep for months until his parents had saved up enough for a trip to Ye Olde Trafford Megastore to buy him the Billy Meredith souvenir toothpick and he's stuck with the club ever since.

Maybe it's just the fact that there is only so much to debate and only so many my favourite goal, best 11, first shirt type threads you can respond to before boredom sets in which has driven out many of the older posters. Maybe ToD and Hypersky were always destined to be retirement homes for the old posters to grumble about these new kids who just don't know what life is about and Wibbs, Weastey, Giggzy, 26, Stan, Rams and myself are just the odd old fogies that still hang around the trendy pubs and clubs for the kids to laugh at.

And in Ed's day the megastore was a shoe box in the gutter outside the shop (then cave) that is now Lou Macari's chippy.

And if anything there are far too many "nice" threads in the general thses days. Seems an odd thing to say but you should have seen the "old days". Running battles where nobody burst into tears (although flouncing out in a huff has been a common event) and the occasional death threat were grist to our mill (whatever the feck that means).

What Wibble and Bury said.

Van merging the General and Current Events would be insane! They were separated so that serious discussion wouldn't be swamped by all the crap that goes on in the general.

So the general forum is full of muppets posting drivel, that's what it's there for. It's the sewer of this place. Although, when here I do seem to spend most of my time between there and the United forum, hmmmm, not sure what that says about me :nervous:

Things work just fine as they are so if it ain't broke there's no point trying to fix it.

btw - yaps defeated me, not you, but by doing so he exposed himself as a mod mole and shall be dealt with in due course ;)

Wht not ignore the idiotic posts let them disappear into the beyond and carry on posting as normal, they has been some good threads in the general in the year i have been here. Its a shame to let sad little tw@s riun it for everyone.

The general is supposed to be a nuthouse. "I cream myself every night over Ronaldo" threads should have no place in the United forum however, and the people that start/participate in such drivel should be hug up by their bollocks with barbed wire and tickled to death with a large feather!
