At the very least if he wins the CL he should be front runner for the Ballon D'Or until the WC
Didn’t stop Mbappe being sold for this amount though? An 18 year old who hadn’t even had half a full season.
We laugh at the transfer committee but they're obviously doing a great job. Across 3 managers too.How do they keep getting these 'soon to be' world class players?
Countinho, Suarez and now Salah, They seem to get them just as they are on the cusp of turning into worldies.
Thing is they've also had some absolute stinkers. In fairness they've done decent business under Klopp, apart from overspending for Van Dijk.We laugh at the transfer committee but they're obviously doing a great job. Across 3 managers too.
Maybe it's best not to completely place all your hopes on one manager?
Liverpool simply won't allow it. A player who is shattering record after record and has a good chance of carrying them to a CL win.
Madrid would have to offer £250-300 million before Liverpool even answer the phone to tell them no.
Absolutely deserves to win the ballon d’or. Been nothing short of absolutely incredible this season. Probably only had two or three bad games this season and the rest have been amazing. If they finish 2nd and win the champions league he has a very strong chance. It would be a shame if he didn’t win it due to that not happening while continuing his form though.
To set up like Mourinho is to make concessions the majority of managers in the current game wouldn't even consider. Simeone, Benitez and a few others might do something similar, but none of them are in the CL.An absolutely great player... However his biggest asset seems to be that every opposition team look at him and see Nathaniel Clyne.
Every time I watch him the opposition treat him like a mediocre full back instead of one the two most potent attackers in the world right now. The amount of space he's given in almost every game is astounding. It isn't even giving him an extra yard as they believe he's very quick or a great dribbler... Whenever I see him it's genuinely leaving a 10 yard radius around him as if he's radioactive.
Surely at this level defenders and managers are watching lengthy videos of him and building tactics around the fact that he's by far their biggest attacking threat. Surely they saw Mourinho's tactics and thought "maybe we'll give that a go", but no.
Lets repeat that if someone has missed the point and lets criticize Jose in this thread. Lets go.Salah is world class, De Bryune is world class. On top of that Lukaku was also let go by Jose. Maybe Jose does not have eye for a player's talent or affinity. Because Salah was good at Roma and is now outstanding at Liverpool. Feeling scared that Martial might move on to another club and become awesome.

If they end up trophyless do you think his name should be in the conversation still?
And a pound for Mourinho's thoughts!A penny for Chelsea fans' thoughts.
Imagine how we feel!Maureen sold Salah, KDB and Lukaku . He really fecked over Chelsea. They could have had an incredible front 4 with Hazard in there as well.

He isHe geniunely might be the best player in the world right now
His ego is too big.And a pound for Mourinho's thoughts!
Hahaha absolutely no chance I’m afraid. He is
Incredible really. We need to move mountains and sea to sign him in the summer

Playing the open style so many teams want to these days, it's incredibly difficult to contain a player performing like Salah is as you'd need an Ashley Cole or the like to match him for both pace and agility in constant 1on1 clashes, which there are none of out there.
If you don't double or triple up on him, he's going to run rampant; if you do double or triple up on him, other parts of the team will have to compensate.. not many teams are even capable of doing that at the moment.
This is the tactical conundrum teams Liverpool face are struggling with.
You think Klopp's going to keep playing him in the league when you've got a huge return leg and a potential final to think about?I think that game might put him up there with Suarez for me.
Still another 4, probably 5, games left for him to do even more.

We set up in a way that enabled that. Other teams are open and offensively-minded, or at least thoughtless when it comes to defensive shape or stifling the opposition, which was my point - there's only a select few managers out there who would set up to nullify the opposition's strengths first and then take the game on.Ashley Young stopped him...
Great post. I was watching them tonight. Genuinely scratching my head just like their manager as to what you need to do to contain them. I don’t think many teams in world football would be able to contain Salah right now. He has become a fantastic footballer at Liverpool and he’s at the right age and would easily cost close to £200m right now. Here’s to hoping Roma can spark a comeback in the 2nd leg. I’d hate them even more if they won it.To set up like Mourinho is to make concessions the majority of managers in the current game wouldn't even consider. Yep.You think Klopp's going to keep playing him in the league when you've got a huge return leg and a potential final to think about?
He should play him to keep him sharp but take him of after 60/70 mins.Yep.
Don't think you can expect players to keep their level if you sideline them too much to keep them safe and rested.
Also, he'll be desperate to play. He's got records to break.
I expect something like that.He should play him to keep him sharp but take him of after 60/70 mins.
Mane-Firmino-Salah actually reminds me a lot of Ronaldo-Benzema-Bale when Benzema and Bale were great.

Ridiculous suggestion.
