Mo Salah

Must be one of the rare Pool players whom I like. Goes about his business. Doesn't talk s**t about other teams (at least as of now).
No fancy show offs. Has a genuine smile on the face.

And is not worried about the golden boot :D

Take the tinted specs off lads, he’s absolutely disgustingly good and one of the best in the world. For the record, I hate Liverpool with every fibre of my being.

He needs to perform at this level for a longer period for me. He's almost 26 and this is a freak season for him, I mean nobody batted a eyelid when he signed from Roma, he was seen as a decent/squad player at best.

It is too early to put him with Messi or Cristiano. He needs to do it multiple times to be considered really good.

If he repeats it next season, that's enough for me. Not saying he'll be the best player in the world or anything but certainly up there.

Ronaldo won the Balon d'Or in only his second season of great football/performances, and came second in his first. Prior to 2006/07, he wasn't even in the conversation. Things change fast.

I noticed in the second half yesterday he played through the middle, wouldn't be surprised if he started playing there from the start now such has he become such a guaranteed goal scorer. His season is very reminiscent of Bale's last at Spurs when as the season went on they stopped playing him wide and put him through the middle

Yeah, Messi and Ronaldo had cv’s that shit on his from a great height by this age. He’s clearly a vastly inferior player to both of them. Balon D’Or is all about the most recent season only, though. So he should absolutely be in the running.

A month ago I cited stats according to which Salah is scoring/assisting at a better rate than Suarez in 13/14 season. Do Liverpool fans still think that Suarez was better in that season?

A week and a half ago i'd have said yes, absolutely. Suarez really was a one man team for them for a good chunk of that season and they almost won the title. Salah's playing on a much better team than Suarez

Now though...with him scoring the goals to put liverpool in the SF of CL...i'm not sure. It's close, very close

If he repeats it next season, he will be same tier as Suarez and Neymar for me.

Isn't Zidane a Muslim?
I think it has more to do with his name, Mohammad and Salah(means prayer in Arabic). Anyway I don't get it, it's ridiculous. I doubt any muslim thinks twice before critizing Pogba here.
What happened to the rumors that we're lining up 180m for him in the summer?

Salah doesn't mean prayer in arabic that's false.

How does showing common courtesy to the players of Israeli football teams qualify as a legitimate protest against the Israeli state?
What I meant was he didn't do it because they are jews, Egypt has borders with Palestine, and Egyptians do think Israel is an enemy state(the Egyptian people not the Egyptian government), that's why what he did isn't antisemetic and just anti-israel.

What does the football club and players have to do with Israeli foreign policy though?

Seems he's a) a bit thick and made a misguided protest or b) antisemitic

Look, I can explain the situation in the ME for you for weeks and you just won't get it, especially since you didn't suffer personally from Israel, lets leave it at that.

As i said: he cares deeply about his image in Egypt. Him publicly shaking hands with Israeli players would be a big "No No" in his country.

Btw, is he Arab? I thought he was ethnic egyptian?

You clearly don't know what this mean for Arab and Egyptians general so will be hard to describe for you, no offense but you see it normal, us not.

That change was made not long after TAA got booked in the first half. I think it was rather down to not leaving him one-on-one vs Sane after that, so Mané switched to RW (rather have him defending than Salah I guess), Firmino to LW and Salah up top. The reason we are not starting like that is that usually Firmino struggles to have the same impact coming from the left (not the case yesterday, thankfully). He is the focal point of our pressing so has to be central.

I'm sure it means righteous, definitely not prayer.

Egyptians are Arabs.

Inappropriate joke
Given the new "evidence" his old nicknames like "Muslim Messi" or "Halal Hazard" look a bit weak.
How about "Taliban Totti" or "Dzihad Dzeko"?

At a minimum he'll need to do either win the CL or do the business at least against one of Bayern or Madrid to make the final of the CL and have Egypt make an impact in the WC to be in contention for the Ballon Dor.

I think his CL run may get overlooked if Liverpool draw Roma in the semis, beat them and get destroyed in the final. I'm just thinking back to our CL run in 2011. We beat a good English side on our way to the final, but our group and knock out opposition were not up to much at all.

champions league win probably gives salah Ballon d’or. Even finishing runner up to bayern might still get him it, unless one of the two freaks have an outstanding World Cup/their nation wins it.

If Liverpool win CL Salah will win Ballon d'or. This will imply Ronaldo would have won no trophies this year.

He is currently the third best player in the world. He may find it difficult to unseat Ronlado or Messi for Ballon d'or this year.

You go into every game with the feeling that it's simply a matter of time before he scores. The sign of a world class forward.
