Mo Salah

Hate to say it, but he looks like such a good player. Wonder how Chelsea fans must be feeling watching Salah and De Bryune tearing up the league, oh and they had Lukaku there as well.

He's more than a replacement, he's an upgrade.
Nah. Longevity and medals aside, Suarez has a claim to being as good as anyone we've ever had.

He could be as good or better though. And is already looking better than the likes of Fowler and Owen, which is saying a lot.

Well, a mixed bag of feelings, really. We have won the title two times in recent years.
At the same time many, but probably not a majority of, fans were scolding the club for selling them.
I feel that with the managers we've had -including Conte - these players would not have produced half the numbers they are doing currently.

He's having an astonishing season so far.

With 30 goals so far he has matched Sanchez's best season at Arsenal. And it's only February!

Salah is just insane, the season he's having is unbelievable. World class no doubt.

He's also so humble, i met him after the Huddersfield game and he (along with Ox) took pictures and autographs with the fans the longest (whilst players like Can ran past with no acknowledgement) Love him!

I love Suarez, but i think Salah is going to surpass his best season by a margin, we are only in February!

If only we had a prime Stevie in the team, he'd love to feed Salah.

In goals sure. Doesn't just come down to that though.

Suarez was basically Beardsley and Fowler rolled into one.

Hard to dislike him apart from him playing and ripping it for the dippers.

Suarez also had 21 assists with his 31 goals, Salah has 8 with 11 matches left. As great as Salah's season has been, it's not close to what Suarez produced in 2013/14.

This might sound a little weird considering the accolades he is getting, but I still think Salah is underrated.

I am probably doing it a bit too. I think it's because I am still undecided about how much is him being in a purple patch and how much is him just being/becoming this good. I am not sure I will truly believe him being at this level until I see how do it again after hitting a rough patch.

By rights, he should be considered better than Torres, but I am not believing it yet.

Two misses, and a dodged bullet would be my guess! ;)

21 assists too? Holy shit they are insane stats.

Wondering whether he can do the same if he plays for current UTD side ?
There is nothing wrong with the majority of the players in the current UTD side.

Every UTD fan I know at the beginning of the season (I quite rightly I might say), scoffed at the idea the Liverpool squad was even remotely as good as theirs. To state otherwise now, would be revisionism on a monumental scale.

People have short memories. Suarez was on a different planet that season.

Source?

Edit: Suarez had 12 assists in the league. Don't talk shit.

Statistically, there isn't much difference between Salah and Suarez.

Suarez was contributing a goal/assist in the league every 68 min and Salah every 70 min.

If anything, Salah is doing better because his goals are more evenly spread. Suarez had several hat-tricks.

Henry in his best season was contributing a goal/assist every 74 min.

Btw, this season Aguero scores/assists every 68 min. But he has several hat-tricks.

He is checking transfermarkt site which gives assist for winning penalty or free kicks which gets converted.

Middle of that season he scored around 20 goals in 10 games. I'd argue that period is the highest level a player in the PL has ever reached.

Yes, how could our squad even begin to compete with your star studded team that has finished 7th/4th/5th/6th in the past 4 years.

Not really. Because most of the goals came vs shit/average teams. Aguero has scored 10 goals in the last 5 games. But none vs top opposition.

Salah has scored more big game goals than Suarez: 3 vs Spurs, 2 (?) vs Arsenal, 1 vs City and still has 3 games vs top 6 opposition.

Edit: Salah scored vs Chelsea too.

7 goals vs top opposition so far with 3 games to go. Much better than Suarez in this respect.

Just my opinion. Form wise, I haven't seen anything like that replicated. Suarez actually went through a pretty dry patch from Feb 2014 until the end of that season.

Like someone said, it's from transfemarkt; 12 is according to whoscored. Whether you want to argue winning penalties (which evidently Suarez won a lot of, obviously because of how he was targeted by defenders) should be included is up to opinion. If the argument isn't about passing but having an overall impact on the team's play then it should be because it shows how dangerous Suarez was to defenders.

Despite the stats, Suarez's impact that season is much greater than Salah's this and most Liverpool fans agree with it. Suarez might have scored 31 goals, but some of those goals were pure individual brilliance; only one of which was replicated against Spurs by Salah. Salah has formed a great partnership with Firmino and Sane and a lot of credit for his goals goes down to the teamwork between them, more than the individual ability of Salah as compared to what we saw in Suarez that season.

Suarez vs Norwich is still the best individual performance I've ever seen from a liverpool player. Yes it was Norwich, but as a pure footballing performance, it was simply fantastic to watch. 45 yard screamers, dinking it over defenders before putting it in the net. He did everything in that game.

I went to a Norwich forum afterwards to see their reaction and they were moaning about how naive their defenders were to give a player like suarez space to shoot on the half volley from 45 yards. lol.

I'm going to judge him more next season because he's having a once in a lifetime season this year where everything has clicked for him. He never had much of a goal scoring record in Italy and obviously Chelsea so If produces again next year then he'll be in the bracket of a excellent footballer.

Also I think Barca and Madrid will come calling then...;)

Arsenal at home was another one. Nearly scored the goal of the century.

I think you maybe waiting for next season as a "confirmation" that he is truly a worldclass player and this isn't a patch. I was like that for a big part of the season but now I've just accepted that he is that good.

He clearly did have a very good goalscoring record in Italy, 9 in half a season with Fiorentina, 15 with Roma in 2015/16 and 19 last season. All this talk of him slowing down and being found out is clutching at straws.

According to John Merro Salah has a £58M release clause and has rejected contract upgrades because he has been tapped up by another club...
Probably bullshit tbh

Liverpool winning the champions league is pretty realistic I think as they are at their best when playing big teams. If that happens, can see Salah actually winning the Balon d'Or - depending on what happens in the world cup.

Are you aware that the sides they've faced so far are the worst Porto side in history, Seville, Spartak Moscow and NK Maribor. They may look great against these terrible sides but the minute they play a decent side they will get tore apart, the truth is results like last night are only papering over the cracks for Liverpool, they are as far away from any sort of silverware as they ever were never mind the Champions League.

I always assumed he was going to be a solid signing for them but feck me he has been incredible. Fair play to him.

I doubt he has a 58m release clause but it wouldn't surprise me if history repeated itself for Liverpool and their best player wants to head off again, Madrid will need to buy at least 2 forward type players in the summer and if they face Salah I cant see him staying.

Yup, it's Norwich. I would take Berbatov's hat-trick vs Liverpool as a better performance than Suarez's vs Norwich. Suarez is a much better striker than Berbatov but it was Norwich...
