Mo Salah

I think he’s more interested in winning football trophies than selling his soul to play football in fecking Saudi.
I highly doubt it is "selling his soul" for a Muslim to play football in Saudi. Even if he leave the end of this season he is a Liverpool legend given his contribution and also spent his best years with the club. In a Muslim's view may be it is the opportunity to promote Saudi's football league as the best league in the muslim world as well.

‘Make the big bucks?’

He’s wealthy beyond anyone’s needs. He’s earned £100-350k for the better part of 7 seasons I think? That’s £72m if you average it out at £200k as I’m lazy with maths.

£72m. Fantasy numbers.

He was pushing for a move last summer and agreed to stay one more year?

It’s really weird, and I’m not imprinting my weird thoughts on you… but this assumption that all Muslim players want to play in Saudi feels racially tinged. Like, it’s obviously not racist. But the blanket assumption that adding religion to the mix makes it all make more sense.

When I say ‘sell his soul’, the same thing applies to Mo Salah as Jordan Henderson. Just because he has the same religion as the country, shouldn’t mean we just nod through him moving to a country with an atrocious human rights record, to play an awful standard of football, in front of awful crowds.

The guy is a world class footballer, that’s lived in one of the most socialist areas of the UK, under a publicly socialist manager, for years.

To me, his religion is wholly irrelevant. It suggests he doesn’t have personal agency outside of his religion. Yes, culturally it makes the move easier. A practicing Muslim that prays, doesn’t drink or eat certain foods will settle in Saudi easier than someone like Rooney would have done. But it doesnt mean he doesn’t have morals and a sense of right and wrong.

Truly not going after you. To be 100% clear. It’s just weird that so many trot that narrative out.

You're either drunk or another delusional liverpool fan.

Literally won the PL once and he's somehow the greatest manager in the world. Jesus wept.
If you think he is not a top manager considering what he has done in EPL, with the resources at his disposal, rival teams with unlimited budget, working in the most competitive league in the world, then I am sorry for you.

You can hate liverpool all you want, but you should know what quality is.

He sold his soul long back when he moved to colonizers who destroyed probably half of the world.

Don't know what his motives are but if he wants to be in Islamic country and believes their principles then good for him. Place of his choice and tons of money.

Oi, leave Belgium out of this!

Good thing his career started in a neutral country

This is the exact same shit pool fans spew when people point out to them that Klopp isn't the greatest manager ever to walk the earth. They back peddle.

Let's see what you said "He's better than Pep - he's the best manager in the world"

What I said - "He's only won 1 PL in 9 years" In those nine years, he came 2nd...twice. It's not like he's been pushing city for the title every season. He's nothing special in terms of the EPL and what he's actually achieved (you know the stuff that counts like trophies).

We measure greatness on success. Unless you support liverpool. In no world is Klopp a better EPL manager than Pep. Aside from one league win his liverpool team have finished poorly. For the record this is what history will show - 8th, 4th, 4th, 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 2nd, 5th, 3rd and now his final season they've imploded and likely 3rd.

That is not the record of a great EPL manager by any stretch.

I never said he wasn't a great manager overall. I absolutely think he is, but he has a ton of flaws - but he's not better than Pep (which is what you actually said) again this this is the classic liverpool fan tactic of realising your initial point is wildly over the top and wrong and trying to change the nature of what was said to fit your narrative.

Thank you for trying to make me a liverpool fan, but you are way off.

Secondly, this is Salah thread. No klopp. There are plenty of points you have missed, but we can continue this elsewhere.

Classic - "i'll make a wildly over the top statement about Klopp being a better EPL manager than Pep"

Be proved wrong with actual facts and go "oh this isn't the place for it" despite being the one to post about it initially.

Hilarious. It's always fun calling out Klopp fans for their nonsense statements and watching them flounder.

You are so full of yourself man.

You are so full of yourself man.

That literally means you think only of yourself.

How you've managed to work that into an argument about Klopp's failings and your nonsense plaudit that he's better than Pep is beyond me. Maybe have a basic understanding of what things mean before you try and use them as insults.

I literally argued your nonsense statement with facts - which are indisputable. Hence why you can't dispute them and just start coming out with random crap like this.

Hey man. Amazing. You won. Please leave me alone.

I think that he is better than Pep, but in a complete different way to your black and white 'what have they won?' stance. Probably why you United fans would rate Fergie above Paisley, despite Paisley having the better record, relatively speaking - because of how he changed the club in such a positive way.

I also think that trying to belittle someone on a fan forum is a bit crass.

Maybe you should go back and read the parts where he said he "feels sorry for me" because i don't idolise klopp and that "i'm so full of myself". Despite the fact I never said anything remotely personal - just leveled facts about Klopp's supposed EPL dominance.

So yes you're right, he shouldn't belittle people.

I get the feeling Klopp wouldn’t handle the pressure at a top club, to be honest. He seems to favour the tier just below, where the expectations aren’t as high. If he’s prepared to test himself at one of the top clubs, maybe I would revise that opinion.

Liverpool are not a top club ? I mean they’re quite comfortably one of the two biggest clubs in the country.

Maybe I used the wrong phrase, but he went to a club where they hadn’t won the league for about thirty years, and he was afforded time to succeed. He wouldn’t get that at City, Barcelona, Madrid etc where you’re expected to compete from the get go.

Ah ok fair.

Troy Deeney just said he's not world class on the Simon Jordan podcast. This is all just breaking so I can't clarify Souness's position yet. Updates as they come...

I believe this too. He would avoid clubs like Barca Madrid Bayern because they will give you the money but you have to deal with intense pressure from fans players and especially management who will always be in your business. At Bayern Brazzo the former Sporting director will sit on the bench beside the coach probably the coach has to explain and justify every substitution and tactic

In fairness, Troy Deeney is not world class and it's a sign of growth that he's finally admitting this.

with his goal and assist against Ipswich, he's now at 300 G+A in 350 appearances for us.

Needed 29 minutes less than Henry did for Arsenal to reach that milestone.

Whilst he’s not quite the player of two years or so ago, he’s still an annoyingly good player that is very important for Liverpool. Their most important attacker.

Utterly lethal player. Will continue to put up excellent figures over the course of the season.

Now imagine the hype if he was English. I don't think anyone ever will beat his record for opening goals.

Incredible stats. He's had a fantastic career.

Thought this fecker would have declined by now. Best forward of the last 10 years in the prem

He’s clearly declined, not as threatening a dribbler any more, which significantly reduces his all round game. But still an incredible player and one of the best in the league, which says a lot about how good he was at his peak. Still incredibly intelligent, athletic, great finisher, very good final ball and decision making (probably better than it used to be).

Yeah. 1 Premier league title.
There are plenty of players with more PL titles who are not even close to being as good as Salah has been, what you win isn't necessarily a reflection oh how good you are

300 goal contributions in 350 matches is a little crazy.

Arguably one of the best players in PL history and best signings. They only paid around 37m for him.

What a player and professional he is! Consistently does it year in year out. Despite playing for Liverpool, it's truly a pleasure to watch such a fantastic player grace the Premier League.
