Mo Salah

Let's hope Saudi are monitoring this and don't do too stupidly high a bid. We know what happened with Coutinho.

Is it premature to say it or is he starting to show signs of decline?

Just thinking, with a new manager in the summer and if Salah is really dropping off it could be tempting to cash in should the Saudis come in for him again with a similar offer to last year. A clean break to kick off a new era.

Can see arguments the other way too though. New manager might well feel he neads his experienced heads and team leaders around to help him out at first. Too much change at once can be a risky thing indeed, and the likes of Gakpo and Darwin Nunez don't exactly look reliable for the future. We also don't know the state of play in Saudi Arabia, and if they will be seeking to spend big again.
I'm fairly sure they will sell him to Saudi... and find a proper forward to replace him

Last quoted “bid” I’d seen from Saudi was supposed to be £70m, still a lot but nowhere near the rumoured mega £150-200m they were talking about last season

Define ‘proper’?

He accounts for, on average, about 30% of their offensive output every season, good luck finding someone good enough to replace that. They will have to hope the likes of Nunez, Gakpo, Diaz and Jota step up to fill in the void, which isn’t exactly an appealing prospect.

Nunez, Diaz, and Jota are all better than what United have, it's just that the output of Salah. 17 goals in 26 premier games puts him on a pace that only Haaland is at. The guy is still super productive. I foresee him leaving, but yeah none of the players mentioned have that level other than possibly Nunez but he has not come close to putting it all together despite having every element that you could want in a striker.

wouldn't be surprised to see them move for either Toney or Ollie Watkins but my guess is they'll find someone in Europe very possibly Musiala, Coman or Gnabry

Currently going on a tragic run of form after AFCON just like it happened couple seasons ago when they went on a string of home defeats.

He’s not getting any younger though, can see him follow Klopp out the door

Get them an Osimhen, for example and with their creativity he'd get 30% of their goals.

Truth is though their offensive output will entirely depend on the style of who coaches them next. Because, I personally believe Jota, Nunez, Diaz and Gakpo still have more levels to reach in terms of offensive out put. The potential is there.

I think Mo Salah knows he is off in the summer so has lost his motivation to perform at his highest level for Liverpool.

I actually think a few of Liverpool's players will be off in the summer so they dont get caught up in the inevitible shitstorm that will occur if they struggle without Klopp.

Jota and Diaz are 27. I think they are at their peak. I can't see any other coach getting more out of them than Klopp. I'd be surprised if Nunez and Gakpo had another level to their game

The creativity Salah is also hugely responsible for.

Pool won’t know what hit them when the guy leaves. In à ‘bad’ season like last year for them he was either scoring or assisting 41% of their league goals and 67% of their CL goals. This season when their other forwards are doing better and he’s ‘declining’ it’s still 36 and 33% goal involvement in league/EL respectively, and he will most likely register double digits in both league goals and assists and over 30 G+A combined for the 5th time in his 7 seasons there. Life will go on for them but in the immediate future (1-3 seasons ahead), the decline in their offense will be sharp.

Yeah, Salah’s general play (which has never been the best) may have dwindled a lot, but he’s still a freak with the goals and assists. Will take a lot to replace that.

Father time catches up to everyone. Still a good player and has put up some numbers this season.

Indeed.
Make no mistake about it. Its true aplayer like him is a loss, regardless of alleged decline. For Under Klopp, Liverpool didn't really rely on their midfield and other wingers taking creative responsibility. Salah was thus an outlier as you show above

It was mainly Trent and Robertson doing the bulk. I feel depending on who their next manager is , stylistically as a team, I just feel more responbility for creativity can be got out of their center midfielder collection of Mac Alister, Szobozlai, Jones and Elliott. Plus even their wide men like Diaz, Gakpo, Jota can take more responsibility in that department and have the potential to go up a level or two in that area.

Plus I expect them to reinvest any moneys from selling like Salah and Trent wisely.

So rather on the wishful thinking side Im hoping they could pick the wrong sucessor for Klopp :D

We saw how much more responsibility Son at Spurs has taken on post Kane at Spurs, for example. I honestly expect the same from those two.

I also expect much more from Nunez and Gakpo. Gakpo for example is yet to tap into the creative ability he showed at PSV before he arrived at Liverpool. Darwin I expect ala Watkins can improve as a finisher, under the right guidance

trent is out of contract in 2025

I know. I believe they will cash in on him to make good Money for post Klopp rebuils, given the emergence of Bradley. Now Real Madrid are seriously interested.

Cash in? If he leaves, you’ll get £50m, max. Probably in January. Or nothing in the summer.

It’s a ridiculous situation to be in with him. Atrocious management.

I really hope the Saudi’s don’t bail them out here and they’re stuck with a declining Salah.

I feel the Saudi project is dying down. Not sure they're going to want to spend big money in the summer after not getting enough interest. Going big on Neymar who got injured and Benzema and Firmino who don't seem to care.

There's other examples such as Henderson. None of the former European based players seem to care except Ronaldo and Mitrovic.

I was told Henderson left for family reasons, something to do with his father being ill again. True or not I don't know.

Honestly think at first the money is too good to turn down, you get all these promises, sign that contract and that's it. They don't give a shit after that, they'll pay you as long as you play football. Players realise it's no fun playing pub football in front on 600 people and can't really be arsed with it but can't/don't want to back away from the money either.

To replace Salah directly they need £150m from the sale of Salah. Don’t see them getting that. Even then they arguably won’t replace that. If they sign Osimhen he’ll cost similar and they’ll lose the Salah assists from the wide area. If they sign a wide forward they generally aren’t scoring as many goals as Salah. I don’t see them getting more than £80m for him, maybe £100m if a couple want him. They’ll need two players to replace his output and £100m won’t be enough. Think they’ll also lose VVD and a lot of the others aren’t good enough.

There are plenty of others who are doing ok tbh

Feel like Klopp haa made him a bit of scapegoat here. It's defensively that things have gone a bit wrong and even VvD is part of the problem. Not sure what he told Salah but he probably had a pre subbing dig which is uncalled for. Not sure Salah should have kept going either.

Salah has never been a great two player defensively. It's not his fault particularly, that they are leaking goals.

Doesn't matter how much they sell him for, there are very few players in the world anywhere near as good as him, so replacing him isn't a simple case if spending enough money

Think it’s inevitable we see him lay down his tools and create friction in the club as it will be in his interest to get the transfer fee down to secure his move to Saudi.

Probably not. But he’s got a year left and I think he rates himself. Could see him going on a free to Bayern or Real Madrid. He’d realise his world class potential there.

That being said, if Slot hits the ground running, he may re-sign.
A year left? Blimey! Someone has messed up there to allow it to get that close.

He's the same age as Casemiro (less a few months) - one assumes that Liverpool aren't as dumb as we are giving a massive contract to a player on the down hill track of his career
