Mo Salah

Wrong timing to break their wage structure isn't it.

There will be books written in the year 2040 about how Mo Salah's blockbuster new deal represented the falling of the first domino in their ultimate demise.

Probably. Maybe.

Contracted on high wages until 35?

I can't see him being one of these freaks of nature who is near his top level until then.

And thanks to Mane, there's no world cup for Mo so he can rest his old, weary body this winter. :D

Great decision, he has been their best and most consistent player under Klopp.

Well, let's hope this is the transfer mistake that burns Pool. I thought they'd be ruthless and rip the bandaid next season.

Laughing at the Utd fans saying it’s risky. It’s the safest contract you’ll see all season, and frankly it’s a big blow for us. I thought Liverpool might be arrogant enough to think they could easily replace him but that’s no easy feat. Best player in the league is here abit longer

Yeah. The topscorer, top assister and player of the year renewed. Woe is us.
Salah will always have his detractors, comes with the territory of being the leagues best. Same was true for Ronaldo back in the day. Wish he’d fecked off.

It's the biggest contract in their history mate.
Just read on sky sports news that it's in excess of 350k a week. Of course if it was us it would be reported as 400k a week. So you're right. It is a big jump.

If it was us they wouldn't even be mentioning a fee, they'd just be sledgehammering the phrase "BIGGEST CONTRACT IN THE CLUBS HISTORY" at you through your TV.

Let's hope other players kick up a fuss about wanting higher wages. And Klopp leaves at some point leaving expensive older players behind. One can always hope.

Good move for both parties, Salah gets a nice pay raise and Liverpool get a decent fee for him when he leaves, might have to bump some existing contracts with though.

If Salah had left this summer, wed not get much for him with 12 months left on his deal, we'd have needed to pay a huge transfer fee (everyone would know we'd be desperate to replace him), and probably have to pay top end wages in our structure for a new player.

This way, we have no transfer fee to pay which assists in bumping up his salary and we can probably sell him for a lot of money next year which is what I think we'll do. It'll bring the wage bill down again and give us a decent fee to get someone new in.

Salah's rumoured salary of £350k will cost us £54.6m over 3 years of he stays that long. We'll worth the investment at this stage.

He earned his contract with his performance and it is a good deal for both parties. Salah has been saying he wanted to stay but deserves a contract for his level/contribution. $350k/week is fair. I remember Ozil and Ambaeyang were on similar money with Arsenal.

He didn't have many other options? Where could he go who can afford it ? Only options are PL rivals, would be popular!

Same will be true next year most probably. Only viable alternative is Real Madrid I can see and not interested.

He’ll still be 32 at by the time of the last game of the 2025 season, when his contract ends. Massive wages though..

Slightly risky that.
Not risky just good news. We really had to keep up with our main rivals and competitors City,Chelsea and Spurs since they look to be busy in the transfer market unlike some others. What would be risky is not signing him and have him disgruntled.

It’s the logical thing to do, especially with Mane leaving. Wages are very very high but as has been mentioned, what’s the replacement cost? What were the options? Buying a £25m player and paying him 100k a week would cost more than that contract.

DM says 400k. Nevertheless, now domino effect starts. Van Dijk will be first to ask new contract.

I don’t know if I’m misreading something but isn’t his new deal a 5 year deal? So until 2027? Meaning he’ll be 35 when it expires?

Oh you might be right. I read a 3 year deal and he was 29 at the end of this season just gone, so he’ll be 32 in 3 seasons time. Maybe it’s a 3 year extension added to his current contract, I have no idea.

It's a new 3 year contract, not an extension to his existing one with improved terms. Presumably there must be have been a hefty signing on fee too, which would have been widely discussed if this was us.

VVD is more important to them than Salah, so he’ll surely want a new contract soon…?
They seem like a decent bunch to be honest so I doubt they will be demanding a deal straight away, it's renewals and new signings which is where they will need to up stump up more cash.
