Mo Salah

And there’s still Liverpool fans who’d sell him before mane, or think the latter is superior. They’re both fantastic players, but goals and assists consistently season in season out is not something you can put a price tag on.
You can...it will just be a very expensive one.

I wouldn’t write off the Scousers by any means but it’s hilarious that they’re losing the run of themselves after yet another reacharound by those spineless Norwich clowns.

You could literally swap Scousers with Mancs and Norwich with Leeds after yesterday.

Posted this in the weekend football thread, but his thread deserves a bump too.

I absolutely hate the little cnut, but it's quite amazing how underrated Salah is. He has an argument for a best player in PL easily, but for some reason many are always named before him. For me he is easily better than de Bruyne.

He also makes football look ridiculously easily, if there was ever mix from Ronaldo and Messi it was him, not overly creative, hates defending, but his technique is flawless, great first touch and excellent finishing and movement. Good passing too when is not selfish. I think he is Liverpool's player I hate the most, but fair feck he is a great player.

Now Imagine if his name was Jack Grealish? He would be easily the greatest PL player of all times for some.

A Prem great for sure. Didn't make most peoples top ten in the world in that recent thread, for me he's top 5.

By the end of his career will he go down as the best African player of all time?

Who's he up against? Eto'o, Roger Milla, George Weah?

Peter Crouch named him in his all time Liverpool 11 today ahead of someone like Suarez.

All great players. Milla was sensational on the international scene too. Weren't they always discussed, and Weah actually won, the ball on doors?

Salah has never even entered that conversation, even when Messi/Ronaldo became insignificant through age.

Yet Salah will be considered the best African footballer ever, and by some distance. I'll wait for @Klopper76 to start posting some remarkable PL stats.

Wonder who Egyptians would select between him and Aboutrika at this point in time. The latter was the better performer for them at the international level, and wasn't shabby for Al Alhy.

Top 3 in the world for me in terms of wide men, he’s unbelievable, a constant menace.

Salah of course. He's the best north african footballer of all time too - mainly because i cant think of anyone else

I think he only needs a couple more to overtake Drogba as the highest scoring African in the PL. The goal against Brentford was his 100th in 151 games I think.

I didn’t do my homework so that’s all you’re getting.

Was expecting some screens where he's broken loads of records. Some of them Ronaldo's too. :D

He wouldn't IMO even though i personally rate him highly.

I doubt he'll surpass Eto, Drogba and maybe even Kanu as the best African player of all time, even if he ends up scoring more goals than all of them. There was such love and admiration for those players that doesn't exist (atleast nowhere near the same level) when it comes to Salah IMO.

With all that been said, he's a great player IMO and is (and has been) amongst the top 10 best players for the past 3 years atleast.

Salah is, without a doubt, a high quality player. However, the way he plays just doesn't excite or interest me. In terms of the PL wide players that have come before him like Henry, Ronaldo, Hazard etc, I don't find him anywhere near as appealing a player as any of them.

There will always be debate, but he will never be out there in front by himself.

Eto’o has over 400 career goals, 3 Champions leagues, 4 leagues, 2 African CoN and a total of 18 career trophies across different leagues. He proved to be as adaptable as he was explosive and made a big impact wherever he went.

You can prefer Salah, but there certainly isn’t distance between them.

Eto'o is the greatest African player of all time for me.

Also, while his numbers might not exactly stack up with the best of them, Drogba is near the top of that list as well. Drogba was the man for the big occasion, which is a rare quality in football. Not interested in debating this point with anyone.

Can’t remember if it was last summer or the summer before now that he was really pushing for a move to us but annoying we didn’t act on it.

Possibly. He's in the mixer but I think Eto'o's 3 Champions Leagues and 4 African PotY awards, as well as Weah's Ballon D'Or, will be beyond Salah. He could draw alongside them if he sustains his level though for a couple of years more. I'd throw in Abedi Pele and Toure as well, who I know divides opinion on here, but would almost certainly be in an all-time African XI.

Drogba is one of my favorites too. A perfect example of why stats aren’t everything. Inspirational figure who made everyone around him better. His combination of skill and power was frightening. A really intelligent footballer too.

Yaya Toure has to be in the conversation as well. Unplayable on his day, an absolute force of nature.

I find Salah such a strange player. Statistically an all-time great in the Premier League, but sometimes I watch him technically and really don't know how to judge him. His decision making can appear quite poor at times, but it seems that everything always comes off for him and he scores an unbelievable amount of goals.

Unbelievable is the correct word to use. People can't comprehend or simply refuse to believe Salah is more than just a one season wonder. Every season.

100% this.

Where did I say he was a one season wonder? I said he is an all time PL great. What I'm saying is when I watch him I can't quite get a handle on him technically. It's maybe because he isn't a traditional 'exciting' forward, i'm not sure.

Abedi Pelé, Salif Keita, Mustafa Dalheb, Rabah Madjer, Aboutreika...

No way IMO, even though he’s good and has been surprisingly consistent since that outlier year he had a while back.

The best have probably been Eto’o and Weah, with shouts for Abedi Pele, Yaya Toure, Drogba and a few others.

Weah is the only African Ballon D’Or winner. Eto’o, apart from all his club success (back to back trebles with different clubs etc) is also a two time AFCON winner and the record scorer in that competition. The best Salah has done is runner up, and Egypt is a country that has had a lot of recent wins in that competition.

Also, if you look at Salah’s career, virtually everything he’s done that has been notable on a world stage has been under Jurgen Klopp. Who is he without Klopp? I mean he was good for Fiorentina and Roma but not ‘GOAT African’ good. And he couldn’t even get in the Chelsea team. Then there’s some Mickey Mouse stuff in Switzerland.

I wasn't (just) referring to you. Of course he's not an exciting forward to many and that's fair enough.

*Checks URL, yep still on Redcafe*

I don't know if it's due to being on Redcafe. In a way he reminds me Thomas Muller, a strangely prolific and clearly talented player that isn't made for TV or entertainment.
