Going in studs showing with your foot raised some 12 inches off the ground is reckless endangerment.
If the challenge gets reviewed, there is every chance Salah will receive retrospective punishment.

When deciding if it is indeed reckless endangerment you have to take into account the force used. There wasn't enough force to warrant a red card in this particular case IMO. Think they got this one right.

Force is just one part of it. If someone kicks you in the face, it doesn't have to be that hard to warrant a red card. Showing yours studs with a straight leg onto the middle of your opponents calf, whilst grounded doesn't take much force to be a dangerous tackle. If, on the other hand you come sliding in like Bailly at 100mph, winning the ball but clipping the man, force very much comes into context. A straight leg, studs planted into opposition calf is a whole different story!

So a player can throw a fist at another player's face and the action will be taken depending on how much of a connection he got to the face?
I'm a little hazy on this rule in truth.
I was under the impression that if the ref fails to take action over an incident that occurred during the game then he is presumed to have missed it entirely, leaving it down to a panel of adjudicators to review the incident at a later date and judge accordingly.
Also, I struggle to believe that the ref could have seen that challenge and allowed it to go unpunished. But if that is indeed the case then he should never referee a game again.
Kicking in the face is endangering an opponent but we're not debating that so it doesn't really matter here. He showed his studs yeah of course he did clearly, no force behind the actual tackle makes it not a red card. Showing your studs isn't an automatic red card...

Studs up challenge, went over the ball when it was thereabout, always looking like he was second to the ball. That's a late, reckless and dangerous tackle. If the image below warranted a red, all while contact on the ball, then Salah deserves a red.
CLATTENBURG ON SALAH'S CHALLENGE
Mo Salah was very fortunate not to be sent off for his challenge on Porto's Danilo Pereira.
The Liverpool forward comes over the top of the ball and clearly plants his studs onto the shin of his opponent.
UEFA guidelines on this type of challenge are clear - anything with studs above the ankle is a red card.
The VAR should have sent the referee to the review area, where I am sure he would have decided that Salah should be sent off. Instead, he is free to play in the second leg.

Yeah. Looks worse in slow-motion or in still images for the baying twitter mob. But the lack of force means the risk of injury from it was minimal.

England (particularly London) is one of the most multicultural countries in the world, home to a wide variety of ethnic groups and races.

My personal empirical experience with europeans tells me that the vas majority of the english are not racists. Well, i dont know what people really think and feel but at least in their society racism is seen as a very reprehensible behavior and you can not be racist and want to be treated as a decent person there.
