MLB Steroid Report

I've been listening to the press conference on the radio. He didn't come down hard enough on the Owners and the Union IMO.

MLB and the billionaire owners would be very difficult to punish that much as a result of the power they wield

no suprise clemens and pettite are in it. Good to see the likes of manny, ortiz, rodriguez, jeter and pujols not in it. Would be very crushing for baseball indeed.

that doesn't mean anything - it means they didn't get caught. i knew clemens juiced after he left the sox. you don't go from being unable to complete a game to winning cy young awards back to back at his age.

baseball has an ugly history of cover ups and odd ways of winning fans back. juicing the baseball in 1920/21 or there abouts a yr or so after the black sox scandal , the baring of american blacks (it was ok to be black and cuban back at the turn of the century and many american blacks would say/claim they came from latin america) - to the juicing of baseballs after the last strike in the 90's and during the home run chase when both players chasing the record were on the juice!

it stinks from the top down , owners , players and their union head. feck em all!

Interesting -- but sad -- that Mitchell did not suggest any discipline of the players -- Rio didn't play for months after missing a test -- Marion Jones just lost all her records and medals -- but baseball is different!

Track is an individual sport. If you strip the individual pitching and batting records, then you must take out their hits and strikeouts and the like from each game. Therefore you must then change game results. It's impossible in a team sport to erase past results. Per say you strip Clemens' pitching results, then that might result in the Yankees winning 10-15 less games in 2000, which means they don't make the post-season. Who is awarded the championship that year?

Not now, they were daft enough not to have any real steroid rules until a few years ago even though it was clearly wide spread

and to add if i may - do you take into consideration that if 80 +/- were on the report , that's the minimum number? that represents those caught out using not those who aren't named. so just for the sake of a reality check let's say the number is 160-240 players. therefore how could you erase stats when clemens pitched vs juiced players? didn't the batter who juiced v clemens also have an advantage? i could be way off , i've been drinking.

Speaking of guilty, the 1994 SF 49ers signed a number of free agents and in doing so they exceeded the initial salary cap ($34.7m). That club won the SB that year with a huge lift from free agents like Sanders, Cook, Jackson, Dent, Plummer, Norton Jr, etc. They were found guilty by the league a few years later and punished with a paltry fine and a loss of a mid round draft pick. Yet, their cheating allowed them to sign the players that made key plays throughout the season. If you strip them of the title, which IMO they should have been since it happens in college and high school football, who is awarded the title? San Diego? Yeah right. Dallas? Well, they didn't get there but they would smacked San Diego around for sure.

Splitting hairs imo

interesting stuff. "America's pastime" is mired once again in controversy. they always seem to get past it though.
Doubt there'll be any lasting consequences due to this, especially forfeiting World Series titles, etc.
If that happened then it'd truly shake things up a bit.

Baseball unfortunately isnt the only game that is tainted. We arent all so naive to believe that hgh use isnt rappant in the EPL.

I love to see our boy Ryan Giggs running down the wing like a spritely 20 year old but i dont think its just hard work and supplements that keep him playing so well at this level at his age.

The ability to play this great sport and get paid the wages they do is more then enough incentive for almost anyone so i know its in the beautiful game.

People like Clemens make statements like it turns your tendons to dust and limits your flexibility. That was old school steroids not these designer drugs and more importantly HGH which allows you to recoup faster (like you did when you were younger).

oh well i hope Giggsy plays forever

What are you talking about Giggs is a great player, and he has declined as a player over the years and doesn't have many left, and I doubt ever took an performance enhancing substance.

HGH and designer steroids carry their own potential side effects that are just as bad as bad as the old ones, to act like they are safe is moronic, they all mess up your heart and give you cancer(provided you don't die of a heart attck)

The great thing about posts is sometimes other posters sometimes dont understand what you posted so i will clear it up and try to remain above calling you a Moron as you have called me. Hgh Steriods or any other performance drugs are not safe and shouldnt be used. As a cancer survivor and someone who had to use them (anabolic steriods) for my recovery i can attest to what they can do to you.

However you are being myopic if you think the game we all love isnt impacted. These players are no different then the players of other sports trying to lenghten their career.

I love all of our players and you do have a point that Ryans performance has declined so maybe i was bit harsh on him.

So incase you didnt fully understand I DONT SUPPORT HGH OR STEROID use as these players use them.

God bless my man, sorry if I offended you.
