No, thank you. Can't play football with feet, just head.

It one of those things where only time will tell.
He certainly put himself in the shop window in the World Cup, just like Bierhoff in Euro '96.
Unfortunately if it turns out that we could need him it will be too late, and his price will have gone through the roof. If we take a gamble on him it could turn out that he's not good enough. Personally i think there are better

<img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> Oh god.

Another of those players who happens to come under the "over-rated" department of the World Cup washup. Same as Diouf. Had a couple of good games, got lucky, and made a name for himself. Klose, we must remember, scored 3 goals in one game against a pissweak Saudi Arabia side. And he scored just about all his goals with his head. Think Fergie will need more convincing than that.

Didnt need convincing to much about Forlan tho.

And what a bargain we got there.

:)

For the money we paid - I certainly was expecting a goal scorer. I dont recall SAF saying 'He is one for the future or he is a possible winger'
Which seems to be the excuses being banded around of late.

I can understand taking a gamble on a player like him if we had 3 other decent strikers. But we only have 2.

For the record, all 5 of Klose's goals were headers. At one stage, I thought he was going to win the "golden head" award.

As for Diouf, did anyone mention how great he was in the World Cup and played 450min without scoring?

What is it with Pool and strikers who don't score?

It gives them an excuse to swap forwards around without much complaints.

Heskey/Baros/Owen/Diouf can all be substituted for one reason, "you're not scoring, take a rest, you'll get your chance next week"

and they have to accept it, because it's true!

diouf was already african player of the year before the world cup, helped senegal to to the final of the african nations' cup and scored 8 goals in the world cup qualifiers.

pretty well qualified IMO.

I'm not saying Klose is an option for us, but for those saying he can only score with his head, remember the same was said about Bierhoff and he went to AC Milan and finished top scorer in Seria A.

Still think that Bierhoff could only score with his head and was much much overrated.

Klose would score more goals than Forlan, of that there is no doubt. And for only 3 or 4 million quid?? Worth the investment IMO.

he's young and could still gain skills. MU have no one that is strong in the air other than larry. w/ becks and giggs crossing he could score some. he'd never be more than 3/4 choice - but w/ 15 mins left and no way through a tight defense up over the top is an option. but he couldn't be the only reinforcement needed.

How did he manage to finish top scorer in Italy then, at a time when it was viewed as the top league in the world

He only has a head! he has absolutely no ground skills at all! Sure we dont have anyone who is really strong with the head but Klose doesnt fit the bill, in my opinion Utd need two strikers, Someone with pace to burn like Cisse and someone who is effective as a deep laying striker, eg Totti or Del Piero. If you wanted someone who can head and has excellent ground skills try Mark Viduka.

It suprises me that Ruud isn't better in the air, he's big and strong enough to have real aerial presence.

Sure Klose's strength is in the air - but that's good, as Man Utd don't ave a striker like that at the moment. He'd provide another option.
Besides, he's very fast, and again, United don't have that right now.
So young, cheap, not cup-tied, fast and good in the air. Why not get him? He'd make a good 4th striker if nothing else.
