Now I could have posted this in the tennis thread but there's more chance of it being read if I made a seperate thread.

This guy is a real star. He looked really good at the Aussie Open and reached the 4th Round at his first attempt over there beating Youzny and Llodra on the way before falling to Ferrer in 4 sets.

Since then he's done even better. At the San Jose ATP tournament he beat the likes of Malisse and Blake in straight sets before beating Verdasco in straight sets as well in the final. With that win he went up to World Number 57.

This week at the Regions Morgan Keegan Championship he again beat Verdasco in 3 hard straights in the 1st round just 4 days after beating him in San Jose. Since then he's beaten Stepanek and Fish and will play Roddick in the final later tonight. If he wins he goes up to World Number 29 and if he loses then 37. He really looks like the best of the younger players and could really challenge the likes of Djoko/Murray and Nadal/Fed. His game is based on a huge first serve though and he won't do too well on clay and grass but he's really one to look out for!

The Bulgarian Dimitrov is said to be a better all round player than Raonic but the Canadian is the one making the headlines for the moment. He could be a top 10 player by the end of this year imo.

He just lost the first set to Roddick in the final. USA vs Canada here.

He had a set point with 2 of his serves to come in the tie break at 7-6 and had an easy inside out forehand but he bottled it and lost his nerve on the next to hand Roddick a set point who took it with an absolute monster of an ace.

The little bit I've seen of this match, it's one of the most one dimensional tennis you'll see

Just 50 mins for a set that goes 9-7 in a tie break is far too quick!

wtf, I left for a few minutes, didnt know it was 3-set match.

Anyways, Milos has a good future in front of him, playing against the best will only help him.

I'd watch him for the next few years before I decide whether I like him or not, but right now, I don't. How many "tall, all-serve, big forehand and nothing" else players does the ATP need? Here's hoping other young players like Dimitrov(attitude problem) and Berankis and who have more to their game develop fast too.

True he's extremely one dimensional. He's quite a bit like Roddick right now actually. Hopefully he can develop an all round game but I doubt it. That's the kind of players you get nowadays; tall, powerful big hitters with more brawn than brain. Berdych, Soderling come to mind. But well it's good to see a new young player challenging the top players.

Gasquet was one everyone had high hopes of and he had a good all round game (except the rubbish serve) but he's never lived up to the potential. Coria was such a good player as well (slightly limited to clay and hard courts) but he disappeared as well :(
