MILAN SET FOR £89M RON BID - REPORTS
2:50pm
Reports in Spain suggest that AC Milan are prepared to pay £89 million for Ronaldinho.

Spanish daily AS claims that Milan chief Silvio Berlusconi is prepared to pay the 125 million Euros required to trigger Ronaldinho's buy-out clause at Barcelona.

The reports claim that Milan will make a series of bids for the striker, but if they do not succeed then such is Berlusconi's desire to bring him to the San Siro, he will meet the enormous buy-out clause, which would comfortably break the world transfer record currently held by Real Madrid, who paid £45.6 million for Zinedine Zidane in 2001.

AS goes on to claim that an agreement has already been reached between Ronaldinho and Milan, that will see him sign a five-year contract worth around £6m a year, plus exclusive image rights.

Ronaldinho has been in extensive contract negotiations with the Catalan giants to improve his current deal, which runs until 2010.

However, talks have stalled, leaving the prospect of the Brazilian joining the European champions open.

I cant see this happening:(

I wouldn't pay half of that amount. I don't care how good he is.

Dont think it is going to happen, definity not for that type of money.

I bet Barca wished they'd set it higher now

No player will EVER move for that amount of money.

Regarding Ronaldinho I'd say 30 million for him would be a little extortionate let alone anything above that.

and yet these clubs can only put forth a few hundres thousand per year for charity

It was common knowledge among Milan faithful that Bersculoni would do anything to bring goofy to Milan. He has grown some kind of fascination with assembling a half Brazilian-Italian team. Though I don't think he would 89m but there is no doubt if Barca were to agree to sell, he will break the transfer record to bring him.

so they will make a series of bids but are prepared to pay the get out clause? - smart bargaining approach that one!

Has to be a Tribal rumour.........£89M, very funny. This figure has been plucked out of thin air by someone

bollocks.

first of all, Berlusconi has admitted in interviews it would be impossible to lure Ronaldinho to Milan; second, Galliani has said that they actually prefer Eto'o (as does Ancelotti); and third, this is AS (Madrid's un/official paper) reporting this, and is therefore likely to be an attempt to destabilise Barca's preseason.

£89 million? - FFS!

wtf has that got to do with anything? :wenger:

Only a few hundred thousand, they don't even have to give that.

89MIL thats crazy money right there, nobody should ever be priced that high, ever!

Nothing specific I guess, just astounded at the price tag. 89M for a footballer? That exceeds the economy of most 3rd world nations.

Most likely.

Could you imagine if they did sign Ronaldinho...

----------Kaka-------Ronaldinho

-------------- Ronaldo----------

I don't think they'll keep Kaka once they get Ronaldinho, they'd probably sell him for as much as they pay for Ronaldinho if not more. Highly unlikely though.

Berlusconi had been raking it in big time while PM, so it's not like its his hard-earned money he'd be spending.

Still can't imagine it's true. Like someone said, some bargaining technique!!

If hes worth that much, then rooney, ronaldo, and messi are all worth well over 100 mil

Meh thats no where near as good as

-----------Ronaldinho

Messi--------Eto'o-------Henry

if the are so eager to spend the cash, spent it on a leaner younger faster messi than on fat ron part 2..

Ronaldinho is worth around £40m due to profile and marketability, I however think he's worth on current football form £20m

he scored 28 goals last season, his most prolific season with Braca despite being on his worst form.
