Middlesbrough in January move for Fulham target Batistuta
Middlesbrough are ready to head-off interest from Fulham by offering a cash deal for AS Roma striker Gabriel Batistuta.
Both Boro and Fulham are battling for the former Argentina international, who has confirmed he will leave Roma at the end of the season for a Premiership move.
Though he comes out of contract in June, Boro manager Steve McClaren is believed to be considering signing the 33 year-old in January to trump Fulham - and also boost his team's own prospects of European qualification.
Batistuta said yesterday: "I've always said I want to finish my career in England.
"To play in the Premiership is a dream and I will do everything I can to make it happen."
