Middlesbrough in January move for Fulham target Batistuta

Middlesbrough are ready to head-off interest from Fulham by offering a cash deal for AS Roma striker Gabriel Batistuta.
Both Boro and Fulham are battling for the former Argentina international, who has confirmed he will leave Roma at the end of the season for a Premiership move.

Though he comes out of contract in June, Boro manager Steve McClaren is believed to be considering signing the 33 year-old in January to trump Fulham - and also boost his team's own prospects of European qualification.

Batistuta said yesterday: "I've always said I want to finish my career in England.

"To play in the Premiership is a dream and I will do everything I can to make it happen."

<strong>Nah, it's no point buying a player that will only do a job for a few years, we need to look forward aswell!</strong><hr></blockquote>

that makes perfect sense then

<img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[No No]" /> Batistuta <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[No No]" />

He's finished

agreed with Sid ... <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[No No]" /> <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[No No]" />

1.5mil on Wilko's face and we get Bellion for the next ten years !! .. that's call "sensible" investiment !! ... Bellion can give Batistuta a 10meter handicap anytime and yet win the 100meter raise ... Though we are not looking for sprinter here - but that tell the story btw. an OLD warhorse and a YOUNG sports-car ;)

I particularly like the way they keep linking us with Makalele. I know he's a defensive mid and we need cover in that position, but he's like 3 feet tall! A 'kin midget!! Doesn't fit with Fergie's intention to make us a more powerful squad.
