Mickaël Essien, is an excellent defensive midfielder who plays for Bastia (French League)and comes from Ghana (like Marcel Desailly) . He's only 20 years old and very promising. If I remember well, Manchester United has an eye on him, as other big clubs BTW.

In France Football's last edition he has very nice words for Manchester United.

"As a child, I was the absolute fan of Eric Cantona. I was always imitating him, he was an extraterrestrial . I still adore Manchester United, I dream to play there one day. Old Trafford is a cathedral !"

According to observators, he's going to become a monument. He's very powerful physically and strong technically... We should go for him !

That sounds very promising. Physical power and technique makes him something like Davids or Seedorf, which would mean a great player.

Physically powerful and technically strong- United has been linked with a few african players this season, defensive midfielders; Bapa Bapa Diop(I think thats his name) Lens and Djemba Djemba(name?) the young cameroon midfielder.

United know all about Essien they spotted him before he came to Europe, they tried to have him sign with Royal Antwerp but instead he chose the french league.

But even if we sign him he will be a sub as I don't think SAF will put him ahead of Keano in the starting line up or beside him and what more we still have Butt.
