Just heard it on the BBC, some of you might know that since qualifying, Schumacher had been accused by many of deliberately crashing/stopping his car so that nobody else would be able to clock a faster time.

Even so, this, is a bit of a surprise.

He will now start from the back of the grid.

How the feck can they prove he did it on purpose?

It's crazy. Why didn't they simply stop qualifying until they had cleared it up?

F1 is getting more and more spastic as each year goes by, I've not watched it properly for about 3 years. It's crap now.

Actually qualifying has improved this year, IMO anyway.

Qualifying has a time limit now though, it can't be stopped once it has begun.

In answer to your first question, i dont know how they've proved it or justified it, i haven't seen an official statment yet, i suppose it could be true and Schumacher owned up, but that in itself would be quite soemthing.

What was wrong with qualifying as it used to be. Of course it's better this year because they cocked it up changing the thing in the first place.

Why is there a limit on engines?

Why is there no tyre changes?

Why.....

The whole thing should be a free for all, with the only regulations saftey ones.

MONACO, May 27 (Reuters) - Ferrari's Michael Schumacher will start Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix at the back of the grid after being stripped of pole position by race stewards.

They said in a statement on Saturday that the seven-times champion had deliberately stopped his car on the track in the closing seconds of qualifying, preventing rivals from setting a faster time.

Renault's world champion Fernando Alonso will now start on pole instead with Australian Mark Webber alongside in a Williams.

Nice try Schumy  - when was the last time anyone saw him stall his car like that?

And by the way, the new Ferrari race suit colour is shite...

He should go off and start his own F1 championship and invite all the best drivers to join him.

That will teach them.

Monaco is one of my favourite places and I go for a few days every year....never been to the GP though and hope to put that right in 2007.

Anyone been before.....if so, where's a good place to sit?

Was quite clever though, he made a mistake going into the corner then decided to try not make the corner. What made it obvious that it was on purpose was that he turned in, went straight again, and tried to turn in again which was bizarre.

Good to see DC on the podium in his home GP.

Yep was an excellent drive by Coulthard, seems to like the Monaco track

He lives and has a hotel (Columbus) there - you can tell it means a lot to him when he gets on the podium.

I once went round the GP circuit on the back of a motorbike - the palms of my hands still sweat at the thought of it. :nervous:

What i meant was, that it was a surprise that the stewards actually acted and dropped him to the back of the grid. Granted when you saw what he did, it looked dodgy, it stank, but thinking he did it and shouting about it, and then punishing him for it, i wasn't so sure they'd do both.

Yeah he's won twice at Monaco before hasn't he? And it probably should've been one or two times more still.

Seemed a fairly clumsy and obvious attempt to cheat to me. Exactly how you prove that I don't know. The stewards must have been pretty sure to take the action that they did. Maybe they believed it because he is renowned for cheating.

By the same token, you'd have to laugh at Flavio Briatore ranting off the way he did.

It was probably decided upon after looking at the telemetry, comparing it to how he normally takes the corner ie steering, throttle, brakes etc, taking into account the slight error he made coming into the corner.

I know this is late and it's all gone now but I'd still like to say that I thought moving MSC to the back of the grid was an outrage.
