Liverpool striker Michael Owen has become the first English player ever to be named 'World Player of the Year'.
Owen managed to come out ahead of the likes of Manchester United's David Beckham, Real Madrid's Raul and Roma's Francesco Totti to be named the world's best.
"Michael Owen, after his hat-trick in England's 5-1 victory over Germany in Munich, can now lay claim to the title of world's best player," said 'World Soccer' Editor Gavin Hamilton.
