First he disrespects Phelps, then he disrespects Bolt, he continually talks down to Colin Jackson (even on Jacksons own sport) and now hes going to be the ex world record holder and soon forgotten.

Bye bye Johnson you cock.

I bet you wouldn't dare to say that in his face

What did he do to disrespect Bolt?

After being asked whether he would do the same in the 200 (continually) he would keep alluding to the fact that the 200 was much harder and that the 200 would come with age, Bolt wouldnt cut it, yet. He is a condescending tit. He knows hes going to get beaten but wont admit it.

Also I didnt like it when he contradicted Colin Jacksons account of the womens UK runner in the 110 hurdles, cheecky feck, he was wrong and Colin was right on the first hurdle strategy. He actually told viewers to ignore what Colin said because he was right. Arrogant feck.

Like I said, bye bye Johnson.

I've always wondered how the BBC managed to get such a successful American athlete on board.

Surely he'd prefer to work on an American network?

Anyhow, I do feel a tad sorry for Colin Jackson, he does seem quite overshadowed by Johnson. The majority of the time he's asked to convey his opinions after Johnson, and doesn't really have too much to add.

To true, but lets wait and see how popular he is when Bolt Bolts up.

How is that disrespecting Bolt? I don't think he is ready, but that's not to say he isn't capable of the record.

Also, Michael Johnson is one of Bolt's biggest fans. Did you see his reaction after the 100m final?

Personally, I dont see the big deal to be honest. I think him and Jackson have done a decent job at the Olympics.

I'd listen to Johnson over Jackson all day long

I don't think the Americans ever gave him the same recognition we in Europe have. I don't quite understand why. Presumably this has worked in the Beebs favour when it comes to nabbing him for coverage. Without knowing, I'd assume a similar situation applies with McEnroe and the tennis coverage

Agree. He is a massive fan of his, he went bloody mental after the 100metres!

Because he doesnt want to to lose his celeb status.
Yes he is.
I know he is.
I Know he isnt.
Yes I did and he is an ungracious feck.

And he is still a cock for contradicting CJ in the hurdles.

Like I said, bye bye MJ, nice having you on the BBC lording it up and being the big man, sure you could have made more money on the US networks but you could'nt, because you are a cockend.

And what's all this bye bye MJ shit?

McEnroe does the Grand Slams for the US

Johnson is much better than Jackson, in no way was he disrespecting Bolt either when he was talking about it not being a given that the 200m wr would go. he said bolt was capable but it depends where he's been focusing his training.

Agreed.

The guy is a legend, been there, done it, bought several T-shirts and actually sold one to Colin Jackson! ;)

Johnson is the best part of BBCs coverage, he talks sense.

He hasn't disrespected Bolt or Phelps.

Johnson speaks a lot of sense and says things about british atheletics that Colin would be scared to say.

Erm, but the 200m WR IS harder to break!

Johnson ran the perfect race in 1996, do you know how much he broke the WR (his own btw) by? three hundreths of a second! the average is about two or three thousandths...

The man is an absoloute legend, and if his record is broken, I would love to see the results of Bolt's drug tests after the 200m, because breaking that record IS almost impossible!

I think if you look at the past 20-25 years, the 100 metre world record has been broken numerous times, over a dozen I believe, whereas the 200 metre record has been broken just a couple of times in the same time period. Its definately a harder record to break and theres no gurantee Bolt will do it at these games.

Nah I think he's good. Sure he's forthright with his views. Last Olympics when Campbell was complaining of a torn hamstring, Johnson called him on it saying he was using it as an excuse and it wasn't real. Campbell threw a hissy fit but then miraculously ran smoothly and got gold in the relay. Johnson was right.

He doesn't deliberately cause controversy but he's not going to sugar coat anything either and he's more knowledgeable than any professional pundit. I guess American tv just couldn't show that.

Johnson admitted that he would be proud to give up his world record for 200 to such an outrages athelete.

End oF

feck me, if that record gets beaten then the sky's the limit for Bolt.

He can be an arse at times, but he's forthright and articulate and makes for great viewing.

You're right. It's nothing personal to Johnson - Americans in general don't really give a shit about Athletics. Johnson is not nearly as famous in the US as he is in this country.

Probably not so true about McEnroe as tennis is big in the US, but same sort of principle.

Johnson has been one of the highlights for me of the bbc's coverage. He is a legend in athletics and knows what he is talking about. I haven't really seen him belittle anyone or put them down - if he wanted to though he could because he knows in his day he was an awesome athlete.

I'm glad the bbc has managed to keep Johnson on board as he is entertaining and i for one listen and take note of what he has to say.

I like him, he supported Christine Ohuruogu over the yank in the final. He said she would go too early and burn out, and she did.
