If not done with intelligence and understanding can certainly ruin what are good threads on different aspects on a very important subject ie CL semi final.

Whoever did it did a piss poor job of it tonight.

You know if posters actually looked to see if there was a similar thread before opening yet another then admin/mods would not have to deal with complaints and end up merging all night
 
What was the point of posting this when you have already made 4 posts in another thread in this very forum, saying the same thing.

Anyway, why point the blame at just one mod, yesterday you were so sure it was all moderators and Admins determined to close this site down through thread merging.
 
And Geebs is right, we would not have to thread merge if people actually checked once in a while on the threads already created.

Blame the people who can't spare a second to check the forum they are posting in and decide to post threads on spur of the moment thoughts.
 
i think the mods/admins did a decent job, i peaked in to see the meltdown at around 9:45 yesterday and there was already so many threads that i had to actually browse to the matchday forum rather than it being one of the 30 threads on the home page. many of the threads were on exactly the same things and many posters had just copied and pasted their opinions between all the different ones on the same subject. certainly didn't fancy their jobs last night and think they did a decent job as i can actually see numerous different threads today on numerous different subjects.
 
Why would anyone want to see pages and pages of the exact same thing, rather then have it compiled into one thread. At least it makes the forums readable.

Are you a bit thick?

I only ask because you have participated in a thread where I thought it was obvious that the main issue was that people were making new threads when an existing one obviously served the purpose.
 
I think he must be, or he is trying to take the piss here.

I wonder if the new rule for repeated threads can be put into effect now.
