Why is Williams unavailable?

every year i look forward to this as i forget how shit we are at playing 5aside:lol:

We usually start slow.

nah, we are just shit at playing 5aside and its up to coaches.....every year is the same(im talking about performances). This isnt like real football and the people who are leading this teams are acting like it is(this isnt really a critic as its not really important how they manage a team in a 5aside but it would be nice if we looked like a good team and not just sound as one). We put defenders in defence, midfielders and attackers up front and of course we look shit as defenders are poor on the ball and panic under pressure. You need your best players playing at the back, Gomes touched the ball three times in this game, three times! The first and only meaningful attack we had was when Gribbin lost it and runned next to our gk, demanded the ball and started the attack with a nice interchange with Gomes.

I missed the first game, where we that bad?

pretty much like the first team, pass it around the defence and then when the opponent pressure us or when we try to attack - hoof it.
Hopefully we will play better against the Brugge as i have a feeling that Schalke will destroy us.

This doesn't look like the 5 a side I knew when I was growing up. The coach encouraged that the ball should go higher than the barriers else it was a foul. there were no defenders or attackers, just play football, everyone does everything. Now I'm watching kids just hoofing the ball about. Rubbish

Yeah it can be painful to watch sometimes.Shouldn't just hoof it from the back.Of course being by far the youngest team in the tournament doesn't help but we can play in a better manner.

we look a little bit better this game as Gribbin plays from the back :)

For someone who seems to watch quite a lot of youth football and seems knowledgeable you seem excessively negative in most of your posts about it. We're missing 16 players who are eligible to play in this tournament and have by far the youngest team in the tournament. If everyone was available Gribbin would probably be the only one from this squad still in the squad so its no surprise to see us struggling against teams who actually spend quite a bit of time actually playing in this format. We also don't really put in much if any time preparing for this tournament since the lads only came back to training from Christmas holidays on Sunday and the coaches just prefer to allow them to go out and play and figure things out for themselves. We had a poor start to the tournament last year as well but got stronger as the tournament went on and players got used to playing this way. The biggest problem this year is that we only have 1 natural defender in Warren and a lad converted to being a striker in Diederick Roberts and everyone else is either a midfielder or winger.

hmm not sure that i am negative to be honest. Check this forum and you will see plenty of people posting negative staff about our youth products and academy in general, there is a whole thread about how we shouldnt worry about producing players as we dont get any benefits from it, that i would be excessively negative in m book.
Even posts in this thread arent negative towards players(even though i dont rate majority of players that went to germany) or McGuinness(i think he is in charge of the team). Dont see nothing wrong in saying that we played poorly when we play poor....
I know we went with a young side and at that age its pretty tough to play against older kids so i didnt comment about player performances, just on team management which i think its poor at this specific tournament, opinion that is not based only on this year as i watched every game since we started playing in Germany few years ago. We went with stronger teams, with more balanced squads, with bigger quality in the squads and it was always the same, we always did the same mistakes(at least in my opinion they are, someone maybe think otherwise) in team management and performances were poor even though we did win it last year.

We have clearly little idea how to play this format this year for some reason.

Angel gomes impressive considering he's the youngest player in the tourney by quite a distance.

Won 1-0 vs. Guangzhou Evergrande.Gribbin played well and scored a goal.We finished 7th.

Wonder how will they (the U18s) will line up on Saturday with this injury-hit side.

Who were the goalkeeper against Stuttgart and who played against Guangzhou?
