How about a loan bid from United? Apparently Bilboa are in with a shout of getting him, maybe United can come in with a late bid. Though United have already got a packed midfield he is player who play almost anywhere in midfield or maybe even as a wingback/full back.

He's Cup tied for Europe (well, it's too late now anyway!) and we've already got enough midfielders. Wasting his ability on a full back position would be pointless.
