Manchester United fans hope to see FIVE new players in the club's starting XI by the start of next season, according to an M.E.N poll.

The Reds were disastrous in all departments last term and supporters believe the only way to fix that is by rebuilding half of Louis van Gaal's team. That means changes in defence, midfield and up top, with the most notable of those the omission of Wayne Rooney from a preferred 4-3-3 formation.
However, David de Gea will be pleased to see he is staying put. The Spaniard is one of few to keep his place, but United fans also retain faith in young defensive talents Rafael and Phil Jones.

Reds hope to see Mats Hummels and Luke Shaw, who have again been linked with moves on Sunday, brought in to bolster the back four. Juan Mata is the only man to survive the inevitable midfield overhaul, being joined in a three by Kevin Strootman of Roma and Atletico Madrid star Koke.

But there is no room for Rooney in the Dutch-style formation Van Gaal is likely to prefer.

Robin van Persie leads the line as a result, and United supporters are keen for Marco Reus of Borussia Dortmund and Adnan Januzaj to join him.

What do you all think of the 11? Workable or just 'fan'tasy team?
 
Very good team, nicely balanced. Problem is that I only see us buying one of those five.
 
Yeah unfortunately we will probably only end up with Shaw and maybe Strootman, the others ain't gonna happen. It's what needs to happen to realistically sort us out but there's just no way we will get the other three so just a dream really. It's been good being linked with the likes of Reus and Koke but we all know they are very unlikely to end up here.
 
Unfortunately it's so unrealistic. May be they should start doing a poll again.

In my opinion. Smalling and Evans are better than Jones at the moment.
 
Really? Well, I shouldn't be too surprised. People who would read the MEN regularly would be muppets of some kind.
