makybe diva does it again...winning the cox plate and the melbourne cup is pretty freaky in itself but to win 3 melbourne cups in a row is crazy!!! :eek: :wenger:

Well thats your opinion. Try telling that to the person who bet 1million on makybe, the lucky rich cnut.

Its a huge tradition, and most of australia makes an effort to bet or at least watch it. What you said could offend some people and would probably get yourself beaten up mate. They are not retarded for having an interest in betting on horses...
 
It's a public holiday for us and usually a great day out, well worth it.

I'll have to watch myself then. I wouldn't want to be attacked by some horse fanatic would I? Then again I always thought that Australia was a society that was tolerant of diversity. Given the introduction of Howard's "Mad Muzzie" laws I could be wrong. What next? Imprisonment of people who bring the name of Makaybi Diva into disrepute?

With the exception of a few who are pro gamblers (which is not really a gamble in the traditional sense) gambling is retarded. When did you last see a bookmaker driving a 10 year old lada?

Gambling is as big or bigger a problem as drugs and alcohol in Australia.

I don't even think of it as a sport.

And it is dull, dull dull.

There aren't even any fences to make it interesting.
 
Hmm...well for a lot of people it is a hobby, not an addiction. People go to the races, make a bet on a horse, and hope it wins.

Its actually quite exciting haha...

A lot of people think of football as retarded aswell. "They are a bunch of whingers" "Look at those pussies". They are retarded because we all like football..but really they just have other interests.

But i agree, if you get addicted it can be dangerous.
