The other day I had my TV on as background noise whilst I was reading, then all of a sudden it turned off, then back on again, and then off again. I put it down to the obvious - ghosts, but it seems that isn't actually the problem.

Whenever I turn it on, shortly afterwards it'll turn off, then come back on, then turn off and so on.
The only thing I can think of that may have caused it is being plugged into one of those plug multipliers but that's fused so dunno why it would cause this?

My lack of Xbox/TV is making uni life during the day weird. Does anyone know what the problem could be and how to solve it??
The TV is an LCD LG. Not sure about the model but might be able to find out if it matters.

Any useful information may be rewarded with beer coupons.

you don't rest your arm on the remote control by any chance do you?

See I thought at first maybe the button is stuck on the remote, but after removing the batteries and watching the TV still be douchey I went back to my original theory of goldfish clogging the vents or just plain old TV AIDS.

So naive Veeva. So sad :(

If you'd like to adopt my TV and allow it to live a full and happy life only one payment is necessary. On receipt of the PS3 you've promised will save my TVs life I will send monthly updates on how he is doing as well as a framed picture of him enjoying himself and Christmas/Birthday cards on behalf of him.
Thank you for your kind support. You can make the difference.

Maybe your TV hates you for neglecting it and reading instead. TV's have feelings you know.

My TV adores me and I can tell the little fella is striving to let me view it's bountiful delights. He really wants to stay switched on, but he struggles I tell ye.

right, saw this happen before. Fecking cheap feckers looking for a cheap solution!
Fortunately, I is the king of cheap solutions! You need to get a passthrough cable CZ342 then transmit that via a Tritec terminator plug (you should be able to pick one of these up for about 3 quid from Maplins). Solder the end of the CZ to socket 4263a on the tv, then red to blue. Sorted!

careful though or you could feck the whole tv up. But do it right and it'll work for yonks without software flashing

No problem, just send me your online banking log in and password and I'll sort the rest.

No need, you just need to send the PS3. I'm looking forward to receiving it and cannot wait to see a new, refreshed TV looking back at me. Thank you so much.

Press the actual buttons on your tv when this starts happening and see if each button is actually doing what it's supposed to do.

I had an old RCA tv start displaying the menu and muting itself (the mute option was the first in one of the menus) after something in the button panel shorted.
