It would appear that most people now use the CHAT facility when on here during matches, unfortunately, there is no recording of the feelings and reactions of forum members for us to look back on. I would welcome a return to the posting of comments during a match in the Matchday forum.

The discussion of the game is non-existant in matchday threads these days, I remember when we used to get to something riddiculous like 8 pages, with people who couldnt get to the game and had it on the radio or even tv, talked about it as it went on.
People had a habbit of typing things in an instant, and you got what they really felt, and as sad as it is, its kinda fun to look back, after the game, at some of the comments and feeling.

The chat facility has kinda taken that up the arse, and if you do go in the chat its full of WUMs and scrollers, or whatever there called.

Oh well.

You have to say the most annoying thiing about the matchday forum has a floodgate, while the chat doesn't,makes it easier IMO,not havng a floodgate

The change to the new bb software has gone pretty well but the death of the matchday forum is the only real downside. I never bother posting here during matches any more.

Is there any way to disable the chat function? If so the sooner the better IMO.

Combining Wibble and Mel's posts would work well. Disable to chat room, at least during the matches, and turn off the flood-gate in the matchday forum.

I usually don't use the chatroom, but last time I tried, someone was in there loggin everyone out by logging in using their nickname. Using the matchday threads could fix that.

Plus I agree with Van that it can be fun looking at old matchday threads. :D

Unfortunately the chat room can't be disabled at specific times - it's a very basic little freebie applet. I understand that the matchday forum is suffering because of the chat room. Although the way I see it, surely a 'live' feed with someone who is watching the game saying what is happening is better than a static page and hitting refresh every few seconds?!

Whether or not people are actually using the chat room for that purpose during matches is another issue though.

It's a no win situation really - people who enjoy the chat room in that way will complain if it's removed and people who enjoy the matchday forum complain now because the chat room is taking traffic away from it.

I'll be damned if I know what to do....someone decide for me! ;)

Just shut down the chat room and tell the moaners you couldn't afford the registration fees for it.. If they want it back up they need to pay you 50quid each on a yearly basis..

use that one. i think it's going to be a winner.. :D

Seriously though, have a voting ballot. I also feel Matchdays are not as fun as they used to be on here... :annoyed:

Yep, and it was just a few of us actually doing commentary there. I've really missed proper matchday threads, and the chat is more than a bit shite IMO. :(

I second the proposal to take a vote on it.

I'm with BR on this one...

I sometimes like to re-read matchday threads when i'm pissed or such likes.

What is going to happen if we beat liverpool 7-0 and there's only 20 posts to look back on?

Leave the chat rooms to the kids.

This place is for serious United discussion.

There you go Niall...buck passed.

Best thing to happen to the board is the chatroom, Im in there every match I can (which is any not on a wednesday). I like the live updates and the match discussion (including the inevtable call for Ronaldo on the half hour by half the posters), there are no more wums in chat then there are on the boards but a hell of a lot easier to ignore.

Its a shame there is no way to log and post the chat onto the matchday thread as it would be the easiest way to for the matchday thread to be a record of the match.

Also I think the player rating thread that pops up after the match should be part of the matchday thread, that way you can keep ma record of the performance and what everyone thought of the players on the day.

There you go - some people enjoy the chatroom and want it to stay and others don't! It's a no win situation - somebody will be disappointed whatever happens!

Personally I like the idea of logging the chat and posting that onto the matchday forum afterwards. That way the real time facility remains as does a record of what was said. The best of both worlds perhaps?

Only problem is getting a good chat room that does that and isn't overly expensive. The current one is a freebie and it shows. But I don't want to pay for a new chat room and find people don't want it.

I guess a vote is the best way to proceed....?

If people miss the old match day thread then post away in there, dont stop other peoples fun if you cant be arsed to post.

I'm back now! :D

Problem is, in Ireland, I dont have it on TV, so I go to the pub, or if I cant be arsed then listen over the net to some radio stream or other.

I'll be back in Spain in Feb though, so I'll have my TV and be posting. Normal service shall shortly be resumed. :D

Fair play Mozza but it can't be re-lived.

And to be pedantic you can't relive what you do not live once. ;)

Since I refuse to go near the juvenile gibberings and antics in the chatroom on matchdays I don't see them at all.

People go in the chat room? :wenger:

Right, scrap the fecker!

This is a forum, it has not fecking use. People have instant messsging, get rid of it.

I'm starting a campaign!
