Good move or should he stay in the comfort zone if you can call it that, at Wigan.

See the Villa muppets out in force, don't want McClaren,Don't want Benitez,Don't want Martinez...who the feck do they think they are these days?

It's probably a good move for him. Got to feel for Wigan though, anyone they get who's half decent - player or manager - moves on at the earliest opportunity, it's impossible for them to grow any bigger as a club. It's incredible that they manage to stay up every year with the huge turn over of their top level players.

good move for martinez. if he want to make it to the next level, then villa is the place to do it. more money available, let's see how he will do in 2 or 3 years time.

Dave Whelan has always been honest about his club and knows that majority of players/managers use it as a stepping stone.

Good move for Martinez, wonder who would Wigan go for next?

Gus Poyet was mentioned, but I think he doesn't want to leave Brighton just yet.

Bit harsh on Dave Whelan if he goes, considering that he was going to stick with Martinez even if they got relegated.

I wonder why McCallister isn't being considered. He did a good job whilst in charge.

This is a surprising one, I thought Villa would go with a more experienced manager. I like Martinez and this will represent a fresh challenge for him as I expect he'll be given a decent chunk of change to spend, if he gets it right then who knows what the future could hold for him.

Good move for Martinez on the face of it, but given the Villa squad's cohesiveness issues - I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't work out for him and he was sacked before Christmas.

Martinez is a class act. Has a great reputation amongst his peers.

I'd even say he would be great next to SAF.

Shown some real promise at Wigan - tries to play attractive football.

A move to a big club will be the litmus test as to whether he can really hack it at the top. Interestingly, the media seem to think Athletic Bilbao want him as their new manager - new staduim imminent and in Europe. You'd think he'd be attracted to that.
